Hi all, I really need some advice here, I have the feeling our company has gone a bit overboard in uploading policies. When someone starts, they have 30+ policies to read. I am a bit flustered and looking in other ways to reduce the number of documents to read, but still want everyone to be informed. Any suggestions/tips?

Handbook for detail. Video or live presentation for highlights. Signed acknowledgement of understanding. If you work in certain industries new hires expect more paperwork (ie healthcare). But with today’s technology there are ways to get them the info without it being daunting and painful.

Employee handbook w acknowledgement form.

Create a handy handbook, one that just touches on the main points of a policy and save the actual policies on a shared drive for them to access when they need to know more!

I stripped the policies out of the employee handbook, put them on the shared drive and hyperlinked them in the handbook. We have a sign off sheet at the back of the induction sheet, where I’ve also hyperlinked the polices. There was an expectation the induction would be completed on first day, I’ve changed that to first week- to avoid people getting bombarded with info.

Does your resume bullet points matter at all if you just have public accounting experience. Like if you say you are tax in Big 4 and you do Federal does anything else really matter to employers?

Will a cover letter significantly help my application while applying to MBB? Or significantly hurt if I don’t attach one? There’s nothing unusual about my resume to explain (i.e. employment gaps, reapplication, etc) so my CL would primarily be explaining why I want to work for the firm.

I went back to my old job when I lost my job. This was probably more an emotional decision. My old manager and team welcomed me back with open arms. I’ve only been back for a couple of weeks but I’ve realized that I want to pivot into analytics and my current role has limitations in this area. Am I horrible for wanting to leave even though they asked me that I was planning to stick around for more than a few months. Any advice appreciated!

My salary is 92,000 paid bi-weekly, and paycheck deductions amount to 31.7%. 6% is 401k and about 1.4% is medical/dental/vision leaving 24.3% tax rate between state (NJ) and federal. Does this sound right or too high? I don’t claim any exemptions on my w4

Anyone know all-in costs for Fragomen to process an EB2 or 3 for ROW filer? Got an offer includes GC Day 1 but the company has never done one, so I’d basically be leading the process with the lawyers. I got a referral to a smaller firm that quoted ~20k incl. gov’t fees. Interested in going with Fragomen given they did my H1B and started my GC with my current Firm.

I work at a boutique that is not very well known, I went on sick leave for personal reasons, which they have been very supportive of. And while on it I received an opportunity to back to a big name I worked for before moving to the boutique. I've only been here for about 7 months. Would it look bad if I agreed to take the offer to boomerang? I'm very confused, everyone I know is saying I shouldn't do it.
