It’s a meme, chill out.

Does anyone use the citizen app?
HR in hospitals: Can people negotiate? I feel like the hospitals are so strict that there’s no wiggle room. I figure with the nursing shortage, I would have the upper hand, but not the case. Ultimately, I left my job for 10 months on good terms—personal issues. Thought I could return within a year and keep seniority. Turns out there was only a 6 month window. I’m fighting to get seniority back after being there almost 15 years (to get more vacation time/higher accrual) and HR won’t budge.Help!
With the current volume and increase governance and process checks this isn’t abnormal.
The levels of approval often shoot around the globe and if someone hasn’t clicked yes at any point it sits there.
It’s not ideal and should be quicker but you shouldn’t be worried.
I would ask the recruiter if you are the number one candidate and ensure no other candidates are being considered. Then ask if they have any insight into the specific approvals that are pending and how many are needed.
Finally, ask if your offer is a standard offer that goes through the usual process or is there something niche in there that requires additional sign off.
It’s normal.
It’s normal. Reach out to the recruiter and let them know that you have an offer from another agency as well and you need to make a decision. They might support you in speeding up the process a bit.
Must be EY
Literally was thinking the same thing.
I recruit at one of these organizations. It’s normal. We are swamped right now and are sending verbal offers + and email with offer details until we can send the official letter. I’ve never heard of us going back on the verbal. In our system we can’t send offer letters too close to the start date without waiting for approvals from hiring managers because once you accept you’ll be flipped right to onboarding/your background check and everything needs to be accurate in the req first to save us headaches.
I guess the question is, should it be normal? Shouldn’t the org invest in more support and help if they truly valued the experience you’re providing. Just hurts my heart that both sides end up losing. One side loses the feeling of excitement about joining an org and a new adventure and the other side loses out on a life/work balance and that peace that comes with that balance.
Hi All - thank you for the comments! I did finally receive an update after about 2 weeks and some follow up. I now have the written offer and I have accepted.
Are there any issues that would be a roadblock? e.g. immigration? Otherwise I would not worry too much. Maybe check the status again with recruiter mid-week. Can always reach out to the company who gave you the other offer as well and tell them you need a bit more time to decide
Somewhat normal. Keep all irons in the firm. You will still need to go through background check before you give notice to your current employer

I'm in a similar situation, except my verbal offer was almost a month ago. Trying to also not let it get to me because it's the job I really want but it is very anxiety inducing
In the exact same boat. Sorry again to hear this! It is very stressful. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that something comes through shortly!
Have to look out for you. A Verbal offer is not binding. Don’t give notice to current employer until written offer is finalized. And if they can’t execute within your window and you want to leave current employer, you should take the other offer.
I had a similar situation recently and the verbal offer was rescinded due to an internal hire. I declined the other companies I was interviewing with, which I now realize was a mistake. Keep interviewing until they send the official signed offer.
I would not give final notice until they get approved to offer you the role. Who offered the role? The Hiring Manager or the Recruiter?
It took me a long time to get my offer from EY. They said it had something to do with their new system
Have them been in communication the whole time? In this labor market I can't image asking a candidate to wait 11 days. From a candidate experience if they are making you wait this long it would be red flag to what it might be like to work for the company.
Thank you. I’ve been in communication with them twice since we originally spoke. Both times I was told that they were waiting on “final approval”. I emailed the recruiter about my other offer on Friday and have not heard back from her yet.

Has the recruiter been consistently in contact since the verbal offer? Did they give you a sense of how long the written offer would take when they made the verbal offer?
It could be normal, but look out for yourself and don’t count it as done until the offer letter is signed. Things happen and companies do rescind verbal offers (ex. hiring freezes). If the wait is in line with how they set expectations then it’s probably fine, but if they indicated you’d get the letter within a few days then there may be something else happening behind the scenes
Do NOT give notice until your background check clears. I would remind your recruiter of the other offer time line
Been following this. Is there an update?
