Hi all, I was offered $76K for a programmer/analyst position in Maryland, close to DC. I currently intern at that company too. Should I ask them to raise my salary base to $81K? How should I persuade them? Thank you :)

You don’t specify your experience at all. But more money in that area is always better. Anything near DC is crazy expensive.

Being fresh to the industry negotiations will be harder. Prove your worth, and you might be able to receive better compensation. But I’m my experience, internships do not have much negotiating power.

Justify why you need it, and also why they should provide it.
Eg. Do you need the money because you need to move, do you have a family to support, is your current salary under what the going rate for analysts with local agencies?

Depending on level of experience the numbers you provided seem pretty good for intern/entry level, tbh.

Thank you.

Anyone interviewed at GE Aviation?

My Experience:
1. Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn
2. Hiring Manager interview
3. Panel Interview
4. HR interview (which I felt was odd)
5. SVP interview

This is for a Product Owner role, felt five interviews was excessive, especially the HR interview. Was told it was down to another candidate and I on 4/27 and final decision would be made on 5/2. Since, recruiter has ghosted me. Have feeling they offered to the other candidate.

Any advice on how to overcome this?

I applied for an internal job. They didn’t have a recruiter reach out but I spoke with the hiring manager. He told me I’m the ideal candidate but he can’t pay me. Given that it’s a job the will give me bankable experience I’m willing to move laterally. He took it to leadership and now they are thinking of combining my current role and this role for the same pay. When the offer comes in what can I negotiate outside of pay to make it worth my while? So I work for a multimillion dollar company
Here’s my dilemma. I started as a temp in the traffic department as a scheduler in April of 2021. I was making 44K a year with ZERO benefits.
I applied for a different position in logistics and got the job! BUT is came with a HUGE pay cut. I went from making 44K a year to 32K. I work my butt off and feel like I should be making more for my responsibilities. I’ve only been here a year but I do more than I should.
Is it too soon to renegotiate my pay?

So I'm interviewing, have had loose salary conversation (talked about band but not specifics), and approaching the official offer stage. It's become clear the role is something I'm very well qualified for, but their pay expectations for the role are much lower than mine. How do I ask if there is (though from what I can tell there is not existing and we'd have to create) a higher level position in the team in a higher salary band I could take instead?
