Anyone suddenly have to step up into a provider role in your early 20’s and have advice on how to deal with the added stress on your shoulders. Very intense on myself performance/ error wise and extra tough on my subordinates below me as I can’t have them be the reason I am at risk of losing my job. Context Dad passed 3 months ago and now my role is to step into my dad’s role providing financially for our 3 poor grandparents outside of the country.
Is moving from consulting to capital markets common? Will that limit my future exit opps?
I’m 4 rounds into the interview process for an Assistant Controller position in SoCal. For the next round, I’ll be meeting with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and 5 other junior accounting staff. I’ll have 30 minutes to explain a month-end close task (of my choice) to the accounting team. Also, I’ll have to analyze a random reconciliation and explain improvements that can be made. I’m just a 2nd year manager, so I’m getting so nervous, and any insight or tips would be appreciated!

Does anyone have any insight working for Appian? (Pay, WLB, benefits etc). I have an interview for a Technology Strategy Analyst position but not sure if I want to leave consulting.
Thoughts on Dentsu Aegis? I've received an offer for a role (promotion) and thinking about whether it is a sound move - especially in this environment. They went through furloughs and pay cuts in April due to COVID. I'd be making the move from EY which is a great company to work with - but there is such a long line up to get a promotion, and for roles I've interviewed for internally I get the good ole - you were awesome and it was rly close, but someone was just a better fit.
NJ family law associate position. Looking for 4-plus years of experience. Salary negotiable but in the $100-$150k+ range based on experience, 25% for origination, and year-end bonus. Truly above-market comp structure for NJ family law. Please DM me if interested.
I just started consulting and hate the type of work I’m doing. How can I switch to another role within the company?
Starting as an associate after going to get my masters degree (worked in sales for 2 years following undergrad). Did not realize nearly everyone in my hiring class is about 3 years younger than me. A friend said that I should have been brought in as a senior associate, but I’m not sure if I’m qualified. Did I settle? Or should I be grateful for my current role? I’m leaning toward the latter, but still feel like I had a delayed start
Steptoe is currently hiring for a business development manager (focused on IP) and business development coordinator. Let me know if you’re interested in any of those positions and i can direct you to the right person. It is also available under the “careers” section on the website.
What are the exit opps for seniors at EB? We’re touted as a top 25 firm but it feels like we have no presence outside the Midwest. Alas, I’m looking to jump to industry & was wondering what to expect
Anyone heard anything regarding opportunities at Wix (website company) Recruiter approached me for a BizOps role. Didn’t realize so much of their operations were in Israel (role would be in the US)
Tax Loss Harvesting + No Wash Sale. Missed my chance in June, decided to not miss another opportunity today. For those that don’t understand these concepts they are just as important as finding your long position.
Had many rounds for role in a tech company that I did not end up getting. The hiring manager mentioned that there were more roles in his org and he would be reaching out if the role I applied does not work out. Would it be creepy to reach out and express my interest on other roles ( it has been 2 weeks since I got a reject) ? Really liked the company and the work they are doing.
Am a recently promoted SC who is looking to go into Product Management to get a bit closer to tech but I love tech and am not an engineer. I think an ideal exit would be something like Stripe or in Gaming. Any advice? PreMBA 2.5Yoe in consulting with 4Yoe in government work.
Hi everyone! I recently accepted a new job with a Big 4 and am also newly engaged. I have a couple of concerns… the main one being that I may not have enough time off for 2022 to cover taking off for the wedding, honeymoon, and then a couple of other weddings where I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid. Do you think there would be any wiggle room with managers allowing time off, or is it generally pretty strict? (Continued in comments)
Currently on parental leave. As a father I’m so dang thankful my firm has it and I can’t imagine how my immigrant parents manage to raise two kids without leave.
40 years in Big 4 - worked for 5 of the old Big 8 in three different parts of the country. Glad to answer any questions. Fire away.
I interviewed for a position remotely 3 weeks ago with the 3 partners of an agency at the same time, and it went well. The CFO then took 30 minutes after the initial hour to talk more and she asked that I reach out to her for more questions as well as to let her know when I have relocated as I told them that I am about to move. After 3 weeks, I sent a follow-up note to the HR contact and no response all last week. Shall I try contacting the CFO directly since she did ask that I do? Thoughts?
2nd year in and having gone straight from undergrad to banking, cant imagine what it feels like to have a “normal job” (i.e. 9-5, weekend free, no work on vacation, can unplug completely off work)
Which department in a NYC B4 would you say have the least busy season? I’m a very anxious person and don’t even know if I can work in a B4
If you are thinking about going to the client site or the office tomorrow think to yourself, Am I saving lives? If the answer is NO then WFH!
May be a dumb question and probably different firm to firm but if a position calls for 2YOE but I only have 1.8YOE will that automatically disqualify me?
Hi I got offer from AU small finance bank tech team wanted to know if they provide wfh to their tech team. Is it a worth to join??
Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.
Hi! I have two offers and I’m not sure what to do. One is with a small firm that serves as outside counsel to medical practices (leasing, employment issues and acquisitions are primary work load) and the other is in-house for a pharmaceutical company (managing outside counsel, vendor contracts, privacy). The firm pays much better (1800 hours, flexible wfh) but I feel like the experience in house would go further in becoming a GC down the road. Please help!
There are multiple platforms that provide data science interview preparation courses? Are they really worth it for someone who is trying to switch to a data science career or self study is more beneficial. Please share your opinion and recommended platforms you have been benefited
Any tips for EYP Deal Tech final round interviews? Cases, specific behavioral q’s, what to expect, and how can I impress? Few yoe currently, appreciate it in advance
I'm a benefits director at a large company, and we're adding a fertility benefit starting Jan 1. It looks a lot like Deloitte's program (just noticing Deloitte a lot in this bowl), though ours will be slightly more generous with lifetime maxes. I'd love your feedback about what your employers do especially well or poorly, just to ensure we don't have huge blindspots as we roll it out from scratch. Honest feedback from people who are on this journey is appreciated!!
Already accepted a T2 offer weeks ago but an opportunity to interview with McKinsey fell into my lap, and somehow I got the offer. Really conflicted because the people at the T2 seem great and reneging seems bad but I don’t plan on being in consulting forever, and McKinsey could help set me up for a better future with its reputation. What should I do? McKinsey & Company Kearney Accenture Oliver Wyman Strategy&
Hello Everyone, I am new to Fishbowl. I am currently hiring nurses for a hospital in Columbus, GA. I recently post a Clinical Coordinator- Renal position. I am also hiring for Telemetry, and Med/Surge. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you
Which meme coin are you all gambling on next? How many millions or billions are you buying? I used to fantasize about traveling somewhere for work and never getting back on the airplane but now that my daydreaming has had to stay in my 'home office' this is all I have...
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
I have 10+ years of experience Agency side, but looking to move Client side with remote work. I've applied for a number of roles either directly on Client sites or via LinkedIn, but haven't even received anything other than a straight rejection at the first stage. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar and overcome it/any tips. My resume has a number of large Agencies and global clients on it, with (IMO at least) some nice success stories, but wondering if I'm missing something obvious.
