Hi all, I'm going to be transparent about my ENTIRE situation. I was released from FLDOC in 2016. I was offered a position at a local non profit. I've been there almost 6 years and am now a board member and an Executive Director. I'm being paid an hourly based salary.. Less than 40k per year. I run the entire organization alone which consists of 6 properties with over 25 tenants at capacity I also, find the houses to purchase, hire contractors, clean, collect rent, find and interview tenants!

I dont think it's your past. Companies are using this lame tactic to make you believe that the economy is all going to hell. Its just not true, well not at this moment. You are clearly a hard working person with years of experience, dont limit your opportunities because of your past? Look for something else if you don't feel valued and respected for the work that you do. This could truly be God's way of saying your work here is complete- look for a better opportunity. Sometimes all you need is a little faith.

I asked for a raise & was told that the economy is extremely bad right now. I think I'm being played because of my past.

Unfortunately, yes they they are taking advantage of you and your past. They know you can’t go anywhere else because you probably won’t pass employment background checks. Perhaps find another non profit? You’ve paid your debt to society and clearly you have been an exemplary employee. Your management skills are commendable! Maybe your PO can find you better opportunities? Don’t lose hope.

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

There might not be a good answer, but let me know your thoughts. This will be long so will continue in comments. I am a maintenance tech. I started with my company 1 year ago, was recently offered a 3% raise in my review contingent upon acquiring an HVAC cert. that they’re paying for. I currently make $20/hr. I have been told by everyone, including two people in corporate that after completing HVAC cert., I will get a $2 raise. At my review they said that was never an option.

Do I push it any further?

Received an offer verbally from a company that is a big jump in salary from where I am now. I negotiated 10K extra in base, and 5K extra in bonus. Currently making 125K base, 30K bonus. They are now offering 175K base 20K bonus. They also declined my negotiation for sign on bonus to make up for what I’m leaving on the table by exiting my current firm. Think I should push it any further? I am ready to accept it personally.
