This is a long shot but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I just changed to H1B status last Oct and my bank mailed me recently after tax filing deadline (I have filed tax in time using H&R block) asking me to fill out W9 if I am a resident alien / another form if I am not. This has never happened in previous years. Does it mean I missed a form using H&R block or is it related to the status change…?
When based in a city like NYC with multiple hubs, how do you think about the airline to chase loyalty on?
ATL folks...Albert in Inman now!
Hello guys and gals, at some point I will have to negotiate the salary for my next promotion - to senior accountant. As most of us are in different parts of the world, I'd like to ask what % increase you'd expect in relation to your previous salary? Also any tips for negotiating? Thanks a million. 😁
Moving from big4 to core strategy firm (read MBB). Have 2 months before I join the new firm. Wondering what I can do to prepare myself, are there any courses, books that would help me gain some skills. I have mostly done PMO, tech implementations kind of work so far. Don't want to leave any stone unturned and want to make it work.
Let’s start a conversation around parental leave - how is it at your firm? Does your firm do enough to support new parents? What changes can we make in our industry to better support working parents? Share your stories and thoughts!
Reasons to wait to go to business school? Considering applying and entering with 2 or 3 years work experience but also considering waiting so that I enter with 4 or 5.
I had an interview with the CCO last Friday for a role and I thought it went well cause he said he was impressed by my work and we seemed to hit it off but I haven’t heard back yet and am starting to get a little nervous. Is it too soon to send a follow up? Or is it just an American thing to use superlatives when they’re really not all that impressed...
Asking this question here for a reason. In our culture and set up, a majority of the time is spent in cooking. We usually don’t eat microwave meals. I want to understand how Indian families cope up with all the traveling associates with consulting. Does the mother or father usually stay at home or be in a “light” job?
For those of you who have partners who travel M-Th, how do you manage your relationship? What about kids? My partner travels every week and his project won’t really allow wfh.
Friend wants to join consulting for the pay. I don’t believe she has the aptitude or energy for it. We worked together in a much slower industry, and even there she complained of being overworked. I’ve sent her resources to polish up her resume and links for roles but she’s insisting on texting/long phone calls asking silly questions. Today she wants a resume review over zoom! She comes without having done her homework. How do I tell her I’ve given as much as I can? How do I decline referring?
I am on H1B. When firms ask “do you require sponsorship” is the answer yes? I would require a green card at some point, but if there is an interesting role that can’t file my GC,happy to work in H1.
I don't understand the Deloitte cell phone expense policy. $200 for equipment? Doesn't Deloitte pay for our work phones anyway without having to expense? I remember just being given one when joining
Applied for a position. Adding and requesting intro calls with anyone at that company on LinkedIn. Also reached out to firm/school alumni and recruiters at that company. Anything else I can do?
I wish as many men were trying to get a date with me as campus students trying to an informational interview out of me.
SOS @ladies I am traveling to the client for the first time in 2 years and have never had to travel within NYC before. I’m a heel person, seems like I am stuck wearing heels to the subway? Any tips tricks advice literally anything before I travel to client?
Here for my check-up. One specific question- do I need a case-study for the first piece? Thank you ♥️ www.shevekanandan.com
Official title is legal secretary, but have degree, certification and experience as paralegal. I am looking for paralegal or PM position in the DC area, but don’t know if this would be a step back financially or what the upper level comp could be. Any insight greatly appreciated.
