Hello, I just had to vent a little and maybe ask for your opinion. So I’ve been working at my job for four years now and I’ve never gotten a promotion. On top of this, I do extra duties that my coworkers don’t do and struggle with the work load. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of and am not sure what to do. I feel like going to my boss and refusing to continue to do these extra tasks without extra compensation. Am I being a baby about this?

Do FAANG do credit checks as part of the hiring process? I have really bad credit from some very obscure personal things and I don't want it to affect my ability to get in - I'm very qualified and experienced. I don't know if this is part of the background check??

I have an extremely difficult colleague that I cannot work with. He answers my questions with completely tangential information and i have to repeat questions multiple times before he answers them, easily the poorest communicator I have ever worked with.

I’m currently a L5 PgM in Finance org (expecting promo in the next year or so) and want to switch to a different org and job ladder. My background is in tech consulting where I implemented ERP systems - my systems expertise is probably the only expert-level hard skill I have but I’m not interested in this area anymore. I’m considering PM, TPgM or Data science. Any advice on how to figure out what the most reasonable path is?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on applying to several different positions within the same company? I’m looking at about 4 each with different focuses but mainly revolving around data analytics or entry level project analyst/coordinator. A friend of mine said it’s not a good look as it shows the company that you’re desperate. I really disagree, I feel it’s in your best interest to apply as many as you feel qualified for. Any thoughts?

I feel like there's a lot of client facing dev roles or dev roles that rotate a lot of projects. I think real tech companies have a bias towards devs from consulting companies due to this... But I've personally been working on a long term platform at Deloitte.

I checked on LinkedIn and people with similar titles have 10-15 more years of experience than I do. I don’t think I’m qualified for the role so seems like I’m wasting time preparing for the interview.
