Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone here works in house and if they’d be willing to share the company as I’d love to make a move from agency to in house but finding it a bit difficult. My mental health has suffered and my happiness is non existent. The constant “on” has finally pushed me away from wanting to do agency life anymore. Anyway, thanks for reading and hope you’re all doing alright health wise.
I hate to be this person but I’ve found the stress and lack of work life balance to be the same agency and client side. The work and process is different (no pitches, the “client” now is another business department, etc) but I was trying to escape the grind and just found it in another form in-house. I don’t know that the grass is always greener, although I have heard of people saying it’s better...so idk.
As someone who went in-house, I agree. It’s still constant, I’m still always on, it’s just a completely different process to learn. You still have “client” reviews, albeit with another department. You still have to do decks and timelines and rally the troops. There’s some differences, but the stress-level hasn’t changed.
I don’t work in-house but have done a lot of research on it especially while I was at a company trying to reach out to brands directly. Are you able to share what city you’re in (or DM me if you prefer) ? Are you copy or Art? Happy to share what I can.
Of course. I’m in NYC and art director. I am though open to opportunities elsewhere. With wfh I’m now thinking through perhaps leaving NYC for a bit and trying out a pace of life somewhere else, but I’m not sure yet. You can see how I’m trying to simply figure out how to be happy.
