Hi all! I’m working on content for an upcoming HR event and we are creating some comedy/sketches in between different sessions to make the event more fun. For some inspiration, I’d love to hear your favorite (or most overused) HR or recruitment lingo/jargon!

Hi all,
We use these groups actively while job search and also asking for peoples opinion on which company to join and wlb etc. Why not after we have joined a company we can add a comment in the same post about our decision and other status like role, tech stack being used this might help others.
Any thoughts on this.

Had a virtual interview last week which I think went well. Its a role I really want and the team seems awesome. I had asked how they maintain their culture virtually. The person who would be my direct manager showed me a photo of her team and how they have themed team meetings sometimes (the photo was everyone wearing a wacky hat). I’ve been overthinking about the interview because it’s something I really want. Does this seem like a good sign? Or was she just being friendly?

I want to be an HR generalist, but I am afraid I may have to take a step back in order to do so. I’ve been in recruiting and the talent management sector of HR for 5+ years. Now, I want to step into a generalist role, but realize I lack some aspects of experience that I maybe could have gotten as an HR coordinator. Do I need to take a step back/laterally move before becoming a generalist? I have my PHR. Thank you!

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

I have been with my organization for almost 21 years. I let my CEO know that I plan to move and take a new HR role in Seattle by 6/30. She is worried that my departure will be hard for our staff and community so she offered me a sabbatical to help with my transition to a new city. Her thought is that my sabbatical would ease my departure over time. She would like to have me consult for at least 6 months after I leave. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? How did it work?

After 5 interviews and becoming one of the two finalists. The company decides to offer the job to the other candidate but never let me know. I was waiting for weeks and then decided to ask about my status. I got the "oh we decided to offer the job to someone else" response. I wrote back and said how disappointed I was that no one let me know until I asked.

Question: Did I burn that bridge? How do you think they handled communication and is that even a company I should want to work with?

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?
