Hi all, my H1B has been approved and the H1B application was filed through consular notification. Is it possible to switch jobs before getting a visa stamp? Just worried as it would take at least till end of 2020 to get my visa stamped!

This whole EO thing is so confusing. Are consulars still processing but not doing stamping?

D1, my understanding is you can only activate a consular notified H1B after getting the visa stamp from a consulate and given the EO, this is only possible after 2020

I don’t think you can do it without losing the h1b since it wouldn’t be “activated” until you leave and re-enter with the stamp. So if you switch, your new employer will have to refile next year. I think there’s a separate change of status application you can make tho! See if current employer might be willing to file that for you?

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll check with my employer if he could change my application to change of status!

Unless your nationality is from a country that does not require a stamp such as Canada
