Hi All— Happy Juneteenth! I got approached about a VP Corp Comms role in NY. This would mean leaving consulting. What do you think is a good asking price in terms of salary?
Anyone hiring for healthcare consulting. Have a friends looking for a recommendation for. He's mostly done EMR work. He's also a MD. I tried internally but recruiter said were not hiring now.
Any creatives impacted by Forsman Bodenfors layoffs? That agency does beautiful, powerful work.
Hi FB! I’m looking to fill a Sr. Account Director role. It’s a boutique agency based in NYC, but remote is ok as we’re all remote at the moment. Luxury car experience is a plus!! Please DM me if you’re interested or know anyone who might be!
Finally got my YE! Was hoping to at least get a 3 after hearing about all the layoffs and the 4's going around. Got a 2 and I am EXTREMELY relieved! 🙌🏻🎉 Now I can really start my weekend! 😎🍾
Alvarez & Marsal 🐠, how do I prepare for a case study interview for the HIG? (Associate levem and not specific role)
After getting laid off 2 weeks ago, I fired off about 20 resumes to different places. I have not received any feedback at all. Any ideas how to get past the computer and in front of someone?
What are partners hearing about the need to do furlough/layoffs? Heard of Deloitte and Accenture laid off/furloughs already within certain practice areas
Got laid off from PA, picked up a temp role in fund accounting, hated the work and quit, got a role for 10k higher in internal audit and love it so far. The one thing I've learned from all of this is
Turned in my resignation today and it felt great. To the fish out there that are still searching - lots of love and luck. And if you can, try to stick it out without getting fired for a job (cont'd)
Fired from big law and still unemployed 8 months out. I’m a mid level transactional associate. Is my legal career over?
Does anyone here hold a non-CFA designation (CFP, CAIA, FRM etc.) and what kind of role/position do you have?
Even if I am performer at clients I am having issues with job security! Good people around me are getting fired! Man! This is harsh!
In Jan Im leaving to go to another Big 4 in a similar role. Once I give notice, if I'm asked to leave the same day does this mean EY is firing me? Or will they still pay for term of the notice?
First year here as a general staff accountant. Midsize. Been asking scheduling for work but only managed to get 10 hours of billable work last week doing a couple 1040s... I also ask around yet everyone says they’re fine. It’s still considered busy season here since I’m at midsize and it feels wrong not hitting atleast 40 billable hours. It would suck if I got laid off cause of it. 🥴
I’m 29, at my first serious job, and am getting fired (not laid off). Feel like an idiot, and don’t know anyone else my age who has been fired. If you’ve been fired, can you tell me about it? I’m LA based in PR & Comms.
How hard is it to switch around different practice areas in MBB? And what if you start off in a more specialized role?
Europeans, how is the culture of post graduate education in Europe ? In USA it’s very common to go to B school out of college or 2 years work experience. Is it similar in Europe ? Is 35 a good age ...
What are the benefits of a green card beyond the usual “no immigration renewal nonsense” point? Got one last week, wondering.
Looking for advice. I'm a tax manager that worked at both Big 4 and mid-tier in expat/mobility tax. I want to move away from tax compliance and more into technology. I currently use Excel and VBA for automating processes, and are taking beginner coding classes (Python, intro to programming). What career path do I have? I thought about quitting to do a bootcamp and work as a software developer, but is it too risky? Perhaps I can blend my tax experience and "coding" skills and do tax technology?
Does anyone have a standing desk mat they recommend? I have a large L desk that is convertable and looking for one thst is comfortable to stand on but could also have a chair role over it for when I'm sitting
I have 2 offers that I’m struggling with: 1- start up company looking to IPO in the next year. I’d be controller doing all technical accounting. It’s in a tech space so it could work, or it could flop. Also would have longer hours. Salary+ bonus is 155k with 25k of stock options 2- more mature company, I’d only be doing technical accounting and sec reporting. Less work, but more independent work. Salary is 140k no bonus but 150k of stock options. Options 2 is safer but I’m conflicted
For those of you living alone, how are you keeping yourself entertained during social distancing? I’m hundreds of miles from my family and the loneliness is starting to get really hard. Zoom/FaceTime calls seem to make the feeling worse, not better. I just feel so isolated. I’ve gone for some outdoor walks with a friend who lives nearby, but otherwise I go weeks without in-person interactions. Any suggestions?
Plan on moving to Dallas Texas next year. Currently with Deloitte MTS team and will be a senior at that time. Im wondering how the culture of the office is there? Also, how is the culture of the other firms. Im not opposed to moving firms. Just finished working three 80 hour weeks, so that would be a big plus to find a team where that is not expected on a regular basis!
What types of healthcare consulting does PwC do? I have an interest in public health, but I also like physician enterprise/productivity but I’m not sure if they have these offerings or not
I’ve mentioned to my dates that I have upcoming solo international travel and it’s always met with a surprise and viewed as “weird”. Anyone else experience this?

I have an offer from PWC as an Associate and for EY as a Senior Consultant (financial services). I have a feeling PWC is better culture wise and with WLB but not exactly sure what things are like at EY. Can anyone give some insights on what the culture and WLB is like within these companies? Not exactly sure what decision to make. I’m leaning more towards EY because of title upgrade, comp package and the nature of the work but I’m also scared because of WLB and culture concerns. EY PwC
I’m worried I may no longer get an offer from the current firm (boutique Miami firm) I’m at because of current circumstances, any advice if I should start looking for back ups or hold steady?
I’ve been off my last billable project for about a month, but my firm has had me putting in full days to work on important internal initiatives and business development that are being taken very seriously, and that include deadlines, etc. very similar to the work I’d do while on a project. Is it likely I’ll be laid off if this continues for another couple of months? How long do you think my firm might let me stay employed like this if they continue to have this much non-billable work for me?
Any UX/UI designers who tried switching to a more ergonomic mouse? I’ve been using apples mouse and the macbooks touchpad but I feel pain in my forearm from this. I was offered either a vertical mouse or a drawing pad + pen. Anyone who would like to share their thoughts and experiences?
