How to handle working with someone who frustrates you immensely? I work with someone who is one level above me hierarchically and is an ultimate micromanager (not one agenda or recap can be without edits) and is rude about establishing that they have dominance. The more senior leaders on the team are awesome and so is the client. It’s this one coworker who just got promoted and is now stepping on me constantly. Thanks!

Question from a recent UX Bootcamp grad: I currently have a single case study in my portfolio. Upon reading somewhere that 2 case studies are required to be considered by recruiters, I stopped applying to jobs for about 2 months as I work on a second case study when I can.

Recruiters, Leads, PM’s etc., how do you feel about applicants with a single CS to show?

I have worked 2 years as an HR Generalist for a large tech company. My position is HR but it is seen more as a glorified customer service position (call center). It has become unbearable & every opportunity I have taken for internal movement has been denied. I was offered a less stressful & more flexible HR temp position with less pay. My goal is to change HR career to a new field. Any recommendations I can take to set myself up for a change in career from HR to sales?

I’ve been working in customer service for over a decade. The past 3 years have burnt me out and I am having a hard time finding something I can pivot to that will pay enough. I’ve always moved up and been in a position of leadership and training, but I feel as if I have gone as far up as I can where I am at. Any tips or suggestions on what kind of questions to ask during an informal coffee chat with an employee of the company I'll be applying to? This person is not on the hiring team, but it's a small company so I'm sure they'll talk with the hiring team after.

This would a fairly significant career switch for me after being at my current company for just over 10 years (with ~100 employees) to join a newish but profitable small company with only 13 employees.

Thanks!

I need some advice. I joined a new team a couple of months ago and the department head noticed the amazing work I have done and wants to promote me to a new position (higher than an SA but not manager) without me prompting it. I have some career aspirations and would like to get promoted to manager, but how do I go about telling them that I would like to be manager rather than this other title without sounding like I’m not happy with this new promotion?
