My company closed weeks before the pandemic hit, making it virtually impossible for me to find a job since last March. I’ve been sending dozens of resumes out, most places haven’t responded. My yearly income (post standard deduction+ 1.5 lacs 80c investment) is 650,000. (April 21- march 22).

I will also receive 2,00,000 joining bonus this month end.

Total income: 6.5 lacs + 2 lacs

Question:
1. Will 10% taxes(as per old regime slab) be deducted on 6.5 lacs and flat 30% be deducted on joining bonus?
Or
Only 10% Tax will be deducted on 8.5 lacs(6.5 + 2 lacs jb)?

2. Need suggestion to save tax on the above numbers.

I feel like in our school they are asking more and more of aides and other staff with no certification (beyond HS diploma).
