Hi All — wondering if anyone can share some policy details they created that allow for flexibility for WFH for some positions/people more than others? We’ve been on an “equal” policy, allowing all employees to WFH 3 days per week. There are some depts or positions that need to be here more/less than others though. For example, our tech design team needs to be here for model fits and comment submits, almost daily. Whereas our order entry/finance teams don’t. We are also hiring & want new ppl more

Manufacturing here - three categories of jobs - on site, hybrid, off site. Categorize the job ( not the person). Really ask yourself, why can’t this role be done hybrid/ off site? What are the drivers ( safety, collaboration, etc)? Be forthcoming that whole 60%+ roles are hybrid, the degree of which will vary and line managers and employees will work together to determine what makes sense.

My two cents - getting flexibility wrong will create very high attrition, at a greater expense ( tangible and intangible) than giving in more than the org originally wants to on wfh.

We did it based on job title/position then for new employees coming in- there is a 60 day work in the office trial period. Could be more or less based on position. We want to make sure they get off on the right foot and have the support they need and we can monitor their progression through that trial period

like

Yes informally. But most of those decisions are logical. For example, manufacturing roles require the assembly line to be together and use company equipment. You can’t do that remote. Most IT and analyst roles can be remote as they only interact with cloud based systems.

Alternative work schedule policy where folks arrange this with their supervisors, department leads and HR manifests in the employee file.

A remote working policy in which you can dictate or not the days that are remote.

All are for individuals not across the board.

like

Same. Sort of put in the same category as how you would handle an ADA accommodation requesting to WFH. Reviewed case by case.

Seniority would not be a variable. But contingencies would be included in the agreement...

Maintain acceptable attendance
Maintain good standing so no formal discipline
Maintain proper internet/system connectivity;may be paid or not depending on the state
And maintain performance standards

Can be cancelled at any time, for no reason and without notice. Employee is still expected to come onsite x number of days for meetings and important information as requested.

See if you can grab Spotify’s WFA playbook. I think it’s public and it has some really great content.

Frequently in the office. What are your thoughts on creating policies that vary based on position/seniority?

Our hybrid policy is flexible and states that it is up to individual teams/managers to determine how many days can be at home or in the office. For the most part it will be 3 days in office, 2 days at home for our office workers. If somebody doesn’t want to work for home at all, they can be in the office 100%. We also have frontline staff who need to be on site, so we give them the option to WFH one day a week if wanted.

I used this methodology and it works well. We also use daily logs as one means to gauge productivity. I doesn’t really measure much, but I can compare completed tasks between similar roles.

Im starting a new job but still employed somewhere else. I was trying to be open about staying at BOTH places. My current job won’t let me be part time because they don’t allow “set schedules”. This place is more focused on strict policies and not actually trying to work their employees and being flexible.

Hi Folks,

I had joined Deloitte India last June, with fixed pay as 15.5 LPA.
I have total 6.8 years of experience, Senior Consultant.

Now I have an offer from Mindtree, with Total CTC of 22 LPA,today is last day to accept the offer.

I know the appraisal is due in Deloitte India, letter will be released on June 26, my coach said my feedback was good, also scatterplot is good.

What should I do? Should I move on and put down papers or wait for appraisal results then search for opportunities.

Hello, everyone!

I have an interview for a relatively new law firm early next week. However, upon doing more research about them, I noticed that their website has only a black-and-white website about only what the law firm is about.

My questions are:

How do you guys prepare for interviews specifically with law firms that have little to some information on their website and Glassdoor?

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!
