Yo, where my Rising Stars at now????
Hi I’m still currently an HR Coordinator however, I think it depends on the company you work for. There is mobility in some companies and unfortunately some there is not. You may want to try looking into more public companies/bigger companies to gain more exposure. I was an admin assistant a little under a year ago and recently landed a role with a public company and have learned the most here.
I have a BS in HR. Less than 2 years experience. Hope this helps!
The company I’m at is pretty small and the Hr team is just the manager and myself so I don’t really see room to grow or level up. I’ve been applying to larger companies so hopefully one bites. In the meantime, I think I’ll work on getting some sort of certification. Thanks for your input! :)
It took me going to a lot of HR learning courses and hands on work to level up to Generalist within 2-3 years them management. When I took my PHR, my career leveled up.
I was a HR administrator doing a HRG job. My company didn't want to give me a promotion so I started having conversations with the new HR Director I reported up to when he took over. He basically told me that the feedback he was given was a crock. So he gave me projects to work on and I ended up falling into Compensation. I left that company because I knew they wouldn't let me grow to where I can go. I'm much happier where I am and my Director and I talk about me taking over the department all the time.
Hi! Wow! I feel like I may be in a similar situation when it comes to doing HRG work at a Coordinators pay… :/ and since HR is just myself and the Manager, I’m afraid there’s no one I can go to for further discussion.
I’m not unhappy at my job, but definitely feeling like I’m not going to get what I want from it in a year or two from now so going to consider getting some certs under my belt.
Thank you for sharing!
I’d do a SHRM/HRCI cert before I’d go back for a masters. Oh wait.. I did do that!
It helped me move from a coordinator/associate position to an HRG, and then an HRM, and now I’m more focused on benefits for the entire US, with a smaller division’s employee relations on the side.
This is the route I’m highly considering!! Thanks for the input
get a PHR vs SHRM. And you do not need to get a master's in HR to get a role as an HRG. Look at your current company and find ways to be involved with all the aspects of HR.
