Hi all, would love to get your opinion on an estimated market rate for a employee like me, as I’m thinking about asking for a raise in January but haven’t done this before. 1 YOE TS/SCI Full-Scope Clearance 1/2 thru Masters program (Analytics Georgia Tech) Been lead data scientist on team for 5+ months 2 AWS and Tableau cert (sorry had to throw that in there lol) I know this is a tough task without all the context but I’m currently making $95k and that seems to be the lowest on my team.

You’ve got 1 YOE… I think you’re doing good.

like

I agree with TSM1. The MS will count as 2 years exp. And then at 3 years of exp, you'll have "5" years. Having 3 years at a decent firm like BAH is good for your career. At 3 years, jump for at least 170k. But you could make more on the open market. Just gotta time your jumps strategically.

like

As a C or SC with 1 YOE at BAH, you're doing just fine.

Maybe talk with your leadership to understand the performance cycle and to try and get a gauge of typical comp increases (and compare with what you think you should be making- as you will at the least get an annual raise). Also worth ensuring leadership thinks you are doing as well as your own self assessment.

Thank you this helps a lot

If anything you're a little overpaid. With a little more seasoning, client trust, knowledge of Booz, and expansion of scope of duties (e.g. more direct reports, business development, promotion to A or LA) you should be competitive for 120-130k in the next 1-2 years. If money is the goal, try to get into Microsoft, AWS, or other big tech where you should be able to swing $200k+.

like

TS/SCI Full Scope... You can make more.

like

You could jump for 130to150k easily.

If you have a FSP and are in STEM, you can make lots. DM me, happy to talk offline.

Wait so you more from Deloitte to Booze but only have 1 YOE? How?

Where do you live?

Not sure your job family or contract, but from what you have told me, 95 is good. Not nearly at the bottom of the pay band. Continue to advocate for yourself and get the best pay your team can offer; at the same time, try to focus on you and not worry about what others make. It’s a balancing act. You’re doing awesome for 1 YOE. Keep up the good work.

Hello all! I am an MBA in Accounting graduate who has had a few AR jobs in my past professional career and in my current role, I do GL postings and reconciliations and ensure everything for my assigned account is entered and posted to the GL. I really want to transition fully into the Accounting world but when I apply for Staff Accountant jobs (in my mind a step above entry-level), I don't get many calls. What am I doing wrong? What should I be applying for with my education and experience?

Or would it make more sense to start from square 1 at a better brand (MBB)
