At Deloitte now. laid off last year while on medical leave. Landed a new job with the help of a senior mentor and vouched for me not knowing my medical limitations. I just had to take sick leave again on the first project out of the gate. Dr is recommending 40 hours a week which will not fit the requirements of my director role. I feel like I need to switch roles to a non client facing role to be realistic in my health limitations. How do I make the switch and have the convo with w my mentor?
6 months into the job and trying to leave. Plan is to start the recruiting process around 8th month and leave by one year mark. Will I be viewed badly applying to jobs before one year mark?
I’m on vacation to help with my deteriorating mental health. But I just had more anxiety attacks than ever. I feel so disappointed? at myself that I can’t even go on vacation. Like it’s literally just spending money and I can’t even manage that? Am I too weak to the point that I can’t even leave my apartment? I used to do a ton of solo traveling
Is anyone else faced with a dissapointed parent that's a luddite? My dad doesn't understand what I do and wishes I was a lawyer.
I’d like to invest my bonus money into an index fund. I have TD Ameritrade and am pretty inexperienced — how do I find index funds on there to invest in such as S&P 500?
Analysts: do you find yourself not making an impact in meetings? Just started a new role and at most I simply take notes, rarely am I asked for input. Is this normal or should I be making an impact?
Any advice on dealing with “work from home”? Aside from execution/writing/production time...isn’t it important to be working together anymore? I like the energy & brainstorming. Makes things better.
Are we still against taking counteroffers in this day and age, if so why? I get the whole "black mark on your record" bit but my practice went above and beyond to prove I'm valued by coming back with nearly the same amt (>50% raise) to keep me and genuinely seems like they want me to stay. Am I crazy for wanting to take it? I love my team.
Is role or company more important for tech exits? Have a FAANG sales ops offer and a bizops and strategy offer at a small post-IPO tech company. Think latter role is more interesting but not sure if having the FAANG brand name is better 2 yoe post undergrad if that helps
Anyone know of a place close to Washington square park to get a Covid test? Need for travel
How important is it to get your CPA in the long run/ outside of big 4? Would CFE be beneficial? I’m a forensics staff.

It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.
Opinion needed. I’m resigning from my current role. I notified my direct supervisor today and was hoping to connect with the attorneys I directly work for as well. I called them today and no one answered. 0/6 on returned calls. If they don’t call me by tomorrow AM should I just send them an email? I want this behind me by end of day tomorrow.
NJ is going back to the classroom. Portland OR is not returning until January. It’s so interesting how differently states are dealing with Covid. What’s your state doing?
