Fitting into bro culture is a learned and valuable skill. It sucks, but it feels like it’s necessary to move forward in this industry.
I keep seeing those LinkedIn polls about how many people want to work from home permanently, and it makes me kinda sad. I know a lot of people really prefer working from home, but as a junior who only started working after the pandemic began, it feels so strange to not have an agency to go to. I know all my coworkers faces only from seeing them on Zoom, and only in the context of work-related conversations. I hope I’ll actually get the chance to experience normal agency culture.

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

I just turned 30. This last year of my life, I had a laser focus of being more financially discipline and paying off my 20k+ debt (loans, credit card, etc). And with this paycheck hitting tomorrow I will finally be “out of the red.” I don’t usually make these type of posts, but seeing other success stories like this posted in FB inspired me. Hopefully this will inspire at least one of you.
I’m working in-house…no timesheets, title I asked for, good salary (6 figures), remote, pretty much done at 5p. No, the work isn’t riveting, but that’s what side projects are for! Stick it out until I get restless, but nice to stop hustling so hard. (Accepting that I may never get a Lion.)
Outsourced IA /RA vs. Internal Audit - how’s the job differ? Why choose one path over another? WLB? I have 2 offers one at a consulting firm and one at a bank, just trying to understand the big differences as both seem like potentially good roles and comp is comparable. Also at the consulting firm I met a few people that left industry for consulting (which seems counterintuitive for me coming from external audit). Can someone help me understand why go back to consulting after industry?

Trying to avoid paying an accountant, can I actually write off home office space/mileage if I was just permalancing for 3 months last year? Shouldn’t the 7 months of W2 take care of this 1099 shit?
Can someone please explain to me Google‘s approach to seniority? I found a role that requires about eight years of experience even though I have about a decade under my belt. A professional contact at Google told me that it’s actually a very senior role based on its level and I wouldn’t be eligible. How does that make sense? Google
My SO is always adjusting our lives to accommodate his family - from our holiday plans, to where we may settle down, etc. however whenever he needs help he reaches out to my family. It really really bothers me but whenever I say it he says I’m so transactional in mindset about my family helping. Not the case imo but yes it bothers me that he has my sister help him with things but plans life to convenience his brother
Anyone work at both MBB and Big 4 in their career (i.e. the McDeloitte combo)? How drastically different was the average level of talent? Were there any dumb McK's you thought would struggle at McD's?

Very conservative spending habits - I don’t care about materialistic items and was raised by immigrants so I’m not a big spender Like everyone on here, I spent much of the last 10 years committed to grad school, work, and building up my career. I went back to my old job when I lost my job. This was probably more an emotional decision. My old manager and team welcomed me back with open arms. I’ve only been back for a couple of weeks but I’ve realized that I want to pivot into analytics and my current role has limitations in this area. Am I horrible for wanting to leave even though they asked me that I was planning to stick around for more than a few months. Any advice appreciated!
