If this is your first tech sales job you should start as a lead development representative. The training is superb and you will have the opportunity to be possibly be promoted to AE in less than a year. I’d highly recommend starting there to get a strong foundation

Can you shed some light on associate account executives at aws?

LDR/BDR/SDR is the entry level sales job setting appointments for closers ( AEs).

It’s valuable….but if you can skip it, try to. Save a year

I would do a start up (50-250 employees) to mid market (250-1000 employees) company for your first few sales jobs.

You’ll learn more, move up faster, get paid more, and probably have more fun. Can use a small company to get to enterprise quickly then parlay that to enterprise at a big company.

At a start up you ll likely be an AE after 12 months with good performance. You could spend 2-3 years in lead generation at a company like Amazon where you ll have earned and learned less.

Now is a great time to start your own tax firm even if it’s just friends and family.
1. Obtain PTIN if you don’t already
2. Register your firm with your State
3. Obtain your EFIN
4. Obtain an EIN
5. Get Drake Tax or whatever tax software you want
6. Get QuickBooks Online Accountant

I wouldn’t charge anything less than $500. I would only charge less if it helps you gain confidence or you just want to. Yes, I’m sure it’s against company policy but it’s your friends and family.

I’ve got about seven years of experience as an AE in the tech and finance space. I think I’m ready for for a jump into the Senior AE realm. What is a reasonable expectation for comp at a Saas company? According to Glassdoor it seems I could expect anywhere from120k-160k base and 180k-225k ote.
Is that in the ballpark or am I wildly off?
