My wife is on h1.
Her current firm laid off today. She was planning to quit and join another organisation in jan and her h1 transfer was already done and approved. In this situation, her end of current employment is on Dec 15, and new employment starts on Jan 3rd.
As h1 transfer is approved, does she need to do anything more? Additionally, as I am on h4 ead I m not sure if this impacts me at all (less than 60 day grace)
She should be good to join on Jan 3rd, as she’s within 60 days period to start new employment.
She can request the new org for a early join date, if not it’s ok too.

I don’t think it will impact as your H4 is dependent on her H1, which is valid until 60 days after end of employment.

Since it’s under the 60 day limit, nothing to worry about for both of you! If she’s getting a fat severance, you just got lucky.
