Hi, could use some advice here. I’m (24m) and I work as an SDR in the SaaS industry. My company basically goes to other SaaS companies and does their outbound sales for them. So I’ve had two different clients in the 8 months I’ve been here. Quota is 10 outbound a month and little pay for base/hitting quota. I want to get out of here and have been applying but hearing lots of “no’s”. I’m not going to give up. Any advice? Any way I can better sell myself to get a better paying job?

There are quite a few SaaS companies out there that will hire in an SDR or BDC type role with a fast-track to AE or AM after 1 to 2 years of learning their software and processes. I would get in touch with SaaS recruiters in search of opportunities like that as an easier foot in the door.

Do you have any account management experience?

If you can demonstrate any sort of account management experience/skills (or AE experience) you might be able to get yourself into a role as an AE or Account Manager. Even things like chatting with the prospect on the phone or Zoom to create the opportunity, troubleshooting issues with prospects (e.g. support/success skills) can help boost your resume.

I keep hiring sales people who are super enthusiastic and overpromising on what they deliver. I put them through a trial month (no base + commission only) and they do not close a single deal, Even though the commission structure is amazing and I’m incentivizing them through the roof. We experienced sales people are asking for a base and commission but I’m scared that I’ll end up having a base and the same thing will end up happening. What am I doing wrong?

Two offers. Is it best to choose the company that is most stable because it’s larger but lacks a clear product offering and entering a new sector or the company that is more in growth phase but has clearer product offering?

bases are off by 20k, haven’t countered yet. OTE sounds comparable but have more faith in the clearer product offering.
