Hello! I’m currently a Administrative assistant now working at a major medical system in Baltimore. I’ve previously worked for 10 years as a medical assistant in a variety of specialties and primary care. Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit stuck as to my next step. Part of me want to go into management, another part is saying go get your RN, and the other is saying go into Social Work. I’m all over the place. Any ideas? I’m a senior in undergrad and didn’t get any consulting offers during the fall recruiting cycle. Do any of you have advice for entering consulting post-grad, or do you know if any firms still recruit in the spring?

(Additional context: I have a back office offer at a good firm, but I really wanted to explore consulting for a more diverse skill set. Would it be difficult to transition to consulting after working here for a year or two? Would I be considered an experienced hire?)

Left MBB 2 years post Mba to pursue equivalent pay and amazing wlb in a “big old tech” strategy team (think IBM, Dell, HP). I thought boring work would be fine in the context but after 1 year it’s getting to me. How would you think about exit timing to avoid “leaving too fast” but also avoiding becoming branded as an old tech guy? Does the old tech experience look bad for FAANG-like prospects?

Did anyone regret getting an MBA?

I’ve been contemplating doing it since undergrad but never felt like it makes sense for me. I’m 27, getting promoted at work and have no plans of changing industries right now.

I’m just feeling a little FOMO seeing friends in MBA traveling the world, partying and making new friends. If I were to get an MBA it would only be for the experience and potentially the network (though I’m in Asia so I’m not sure how useful the network in the US would be).

The company lawyers are filing for an extension start of Jan and might do it in premium processing.

Questions:
1. If approved, does the new H1 kick in immediately, or after expiry of current H1 in March?
2. If I travel before March, can I reenter on original valid H1 or will I need new visa stamp due to the extension/new H1?
