S&O most likely
Thanks bud/gal. By chance, can you speak on the experience working there?
Could be either. Advisory merged with the financial advisory services a couple years back. If you are looking at a job posting, easiest way is to see what the firm name tied to it is. S&O would be Deloitte Consulting LLP
I'm not part of that team but I'd say they most likely do finance transformation type work. It's one of the more specific areas (i.e. Ppl stay in mostly in that domain) but I'd imagine folks work across S&O too
International financial institutions are bucketed in federal as well
Not super difficult but you'll have to make an effort and find a commercial partner who is willing to bring you on to their project
Ex. Does that position mean you'll be pigeonholed into the finance team or you have the ability to work on a variety of work within the S&O world?
Ah crap it says Federal S&O. The description sounds great but what are y'alls thoughts on it knowing this now?
It means public sector clients.
Depends on how you feel about working federal. You would be local to DC. It has the reputation of a slower pace, but like anywhere else it depends on the project. The govt does a wide variety of stuff, so there are interesting projects and really boring projects.
No problem working Federal if they're actual consulting projects. But I'd like to work in commercial too. Is it really like 2 different businesses between Fed and Commercial at D?
Any Deloitte Federal folks here that I can pick their brain a little? Just curious about the experience.
A lot of Finance service line projects are for huge finance transformation projects (i.e., systems implementations). It depends on whether or not you consider that actual consulting. I'm sure there are some strategic projects in Finance but I'm guessing they're just trying to get bodies bc we sell a lot of that work and always need people. I have friends who were hired directly into Finance and they haven't been able to branch out bc there's so much demand.
@d3 thank you. That's what I feared - so it's really just IT implementation and pmo?
Hopefully this question is still relevant but if it's still financial systems implementation, then shouldn't that be under Tech?
