Was approached by agency for a Business Analyst contract role at Amazon. I’ve heard about not applying for warehouse/fulfillment roles as a way to get in to Amazon as an FTE but what about entering Amazon as a contractor? The plus is it’s remote, the contract rate is better than what I’ve been solicited at and I’m no where near Amazon headquarters or any of their regional offices. This is on the Transfer Pricing Accounting team.

Hi! Do you mean reaching out to people online? Fishbowl is very much a great place to start (maybe do an additional post with a pointed question for specific conversation requests) and if you want to try a more responsive community than LinkedIn, there's a great app called Shapr. You can connect (by tagging your profile and swiping others) and many people are very interested just to connect. Might find some connections in the industry there!
I don't think it's ever too soon to start, some opportunities have a long lead time and it's nice to develop a relationship. If you're able to start those conversations you can talk about things in more the immediate tense/about general interest, so you don't have to say that it's a year away but you'll have no real pressure on the engagement. You can also ask them if there's anything you can do for them at some point in the conversation.
I think it's good to do a tiered approach where you talk to lots of people initially and do a very open-ended conversation with a few meaningful questions. Then you are hopefully networking a bit, and you can narrow down who to talk to and what to talk about. I'm sure you'll find the right thing in time!
I would first narrow down the companies you wanted to work for, then the teams. Understand the background of the company and why you want to work there and where could add value. There are plenty of ways to reach out to people and talk to alot (like someone previously mentioned). LInkedIn, networking through mutual connections, speed networking, etc. Ask for someone to provide you an introduction if they are mutual connection, that helps rather than a cold email, if you can. Simply ask for 15 minutes of their time and what you would like to discuss and see where it goes from there. It was also helpful to use an app like Calendly so they could schedule time with you and reduce the back and forth.
