Hi everyone. A friend knows that I do Staffing recruiting and this agency is in charge of providing medical benefits, PTO, and Holiday pay. I run the branch, I'm responsible for coaching, maintaining attendance, and dealing with verbal and written warnings, and termination. We use TempWorks to track everything from interviews, onboarding, E-Verify, background and drug screening, and payroll as well. I document everything. Ok, so my question is do I need any HR-specific certifications?

Please clarify, do you need a certification for what purpose?

Helpful, not necessary unless job requires one, typically it’s a preference, not a requirement. The most important is your related work experience, and perhaps a related degree, if required or desired. Can you hit the ground running with minimal training? Of course, depends on the industry and job level. It’s a great time to look for job opportunities as it’s a job seekers market.

For the job you’re currently doing? Or for another job? What does your friend have to do with this? This post was so hard to follow, I would strongly suggest at least taking some business communication courses so that you can write clear, concise communications with a logical flow.

like

Aah ok, then it would depend on the requirements listed in the job description, and whether the company says that a certification is required or just a nice-to-have

Only if it was or is in the job description as a requirement

I don't think so - it'll help, but not having it won't hold you back

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

I have some cash to invest and am looking for a part time hustle that can cash flow at least a little bit of money on the side.

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. Hi! Is anyone hiring for mid/entry level in house recruiters either located in the San Diego area or remote? I have 2 yoe and have been doing full cycle recruiting for various creative and tech roles since day 1. Ideally looking for 70k+ base salary. I’m have no preference to the industry, though trying something I haven’t before would be cool. I’ve had final stage interviews with a few other companies, but due to the looks of the economy right now they have unfortunately put a pause of hiring.

I am under qualified for a job that I KNOW I can do. They’ve asked for a certain number of years of experience and I don’t have it. However, I do have some experience in the exact requirements for the role. What can I do to position myself to get an interview from my resume alone? Should I add a cover letter? What should I include? I have 2-3 YOE, but they’re asking for 5.

Is it out of the question to ask if I can be paid for that work under a separate fee as a consultant or something? Is that even possible?

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
