Hi everyone, after years of self doubt and career uncertainty, I finally made a transition from data to product management! There were great things about my job but I had always wanted to try this PM thing out. Might hate it and feel lost again but time will tell. So excited - although nervous - about this challenge and new role. Will be visiting this bowl often 🙂 Thanks for helpful insights all throughout.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I just took over a SAAS product where I own P&L with 800 B2B clients with so much customization that it feels like 800 versions of the product. I have a PO who does the day to day work with the devs, but otherwise it’s just me. I’ve been a PM for 15 years and never felt so understaffed. Folks , I’m considering kicking off the job application process again. I feel like I can’t reach my potential as a PM at a consulting firm. For one, we have no access to user data, usually our users are clients, and we rarely get to interface with them. As a result, I don’t have any experience in A/B testing, or proper user experience research. Is this an extremely important skill? Should I look to jump sooner than later ? There are other skills I get to aggressively build here, however

I love my job and the company that I've been working on for a year. My boss is great and the culture is very product focused. There's been tremendous learning for which I'm very grateful.
The only sticking point is that my compensation increase this year was 4% which isn't ideal since inflation has been so high it feels like a pay cut. I know I should change my job and to get ahead of the market. But it sucks to change jobs where I've enjoyed working so much and getting to learn a lot too.

Heading into final interviews at 4 companies…

1. What should I do for references? My company doesn’t know I’m interviewing, so who do I ask, when, and how? It’s not a question of who would give positive reviews, but rather who is appropriate to put in that position knowing they won’t want me to leave.

2. IF I get multiple offers, any tips on how to negotiate higher salary or more equity? I’m excited about each company so I don’t know how I’d rank my preferences if the offers are similar.
