I want to put my head down, do quality work in my engagements, and not have to do any internal work. Can I get by and still get promoted in b4 consulting?

On a track for promotion for Q1 but feeling burnt out and like I can’t manage the workload in order to make that happen. I brought this up to my manager and she said “well we probably won’t be able to get you the promo until Q2 then in order to get all the data points needed”. Her point is pretty accurate, but am I crazy to slow down for my mental health and sanity at the expense of delaying promo by 3 months?

Project was cancelled due to COVID. Start of week 3 on the bench. Have had roles delayed then dissappear. Starting to get anxious, just want to keep my job 😔

Got an offer for moving to a boutique and was excited until I got the benefit info. Currently at $140, DTO, 12 holidays, high chance of decent bonus. New role is $160k, 24 days PTO, 8 holidays, only utilization bonus but good size.
The change is PTO/holidays is a huge deal for me but not sure if the salary makes up for it. They aren't budging on anything which to me is not a good sign. Really torn on what to do

Having this convo with a friend and curious to hear thoughts. If you knew you were going to inherit ~5M in 20-25 years, would you do anything differently with your life? It’s a large amount, yes. But it’s not so much that you could never work again.

How do you give feedback when the work quality is not detail oriented? I'm dealing with a young contractor in charge of renovating my bathrooms.

While the work is mostly good, there are some areas that are shoddy. With feedback, I usually start with the good parts that they have completed but then I see them get defensive when I provide input on the shoddy. I also feel I'm supplicative but not stern enough.

I believe I could use some wisdom in this area that will help me at work as well.
