Dog owners: any thoughts on how to accommodate a new puppy into the consulting lifestyle (about me: I don’t travel, have a SO that works less than me to share responsibility with but they cannot WFH)

I’m thinking of getting a dog (not a super young puppy, probably at least a year or two old). Was hoping to get some advice. I generally WFH but go into the office a few times a month and probably travel a week every two months. What are the good options to make sure my pet is taken care of if I have no local family or friends to look after them?

I really want to get a puppy given WFH currently, but nervous about pulling the trigger given that we are likely returning to travel at some point in 2021. I’m single and live by myself, so worried about what the pups lifestyle would look like if I returned to travel 1-3 days a week (knowing that 3-days per week is certainly not fair to the dog). How have others thought about this? I’ve raised 4 dogs growing up, so I’m well aware of what it takes from a training / attention standpoint.

WFH has had me barefoot at home pretty much all day except when I go to run errands every now and then for 1-2 hours. My feet are not used to being back in shoes for 8+ hours a day. Had my feet all messed up hurting and veins popping every where. Should I get new shoes? Any tips? TIA

Thoughts on asking to WFH 1 day a week for the beginning month or 2 of getting a newborn puppy? 🐶

So I want to get a puppy with my wife. She has to go into work M-F, and I can work from home. Work recommends I go in 3 days a week starting in January, and we have a bring your dog to work program where you can keep your dog by your desk. I’ve never owned a dog before, but want to be smart about it. What should we keep in mind, and what would you recommend doing?

I’m a first time dog owner, got a covid puppy, and would appreciate some advice around what to do with my dog, if I have to return to the office 3 days a week. I imagine I’ll be gone for about 9 hours. Do people just pay the $20-30 for a dog walker in Toronto? Isn’t that a lot of money? My dog’s breed doesn’t actually need much walking but he definitely would get bored by himself for so long. I am so torn, between taking a work from home 4/5 days job vs intense hybrid corporate work.

I currently WFH. However I expect that we will return to the office by summer or fall. I live 1.5 miles away from work, but I don’t have a car. I want to avoid buying a car if possible. What are the best ways to get to work. I live in the city so biking is a little too dangerous for me. Any ideas?

Wow…covid is really over. I live in a rural area where we knew covid was happening but it never really impacted the community or daily life. However when I’d go into the city it was very very obvious there were huge life impacts and fear. I just went into the city for the first time in about 3 months and it’s like covid never happened. It makes me wonder how many other things that have drastically changed (like wfh and hand sanitizer) will go back to normal as people go back to normal.

I am sick and tired of working 100% wfh since I joined, over a year ago. I feel very disconnected from my co-workers, team-mates to the degree that I feel like working as an external contractor. Do you feel the same ?
