Hi, I received the below offer for L65 Principal Program Manager (non tech) at Microsoft in Atlanta. I have 12 YOE in strategy consulting. Can somebody with experience with MS please advise if this is good or lowball? The recruiter mentioned that this is max for Atlanta and anything else will require an “exception” process. I don’t think I want to risk losing the offer. Thanks!!

Consider some formatting changes such as: fully align dates all the way to right margin; adjust font sizing/spacing within education & skills sections.
technical stuff looks good. metrics on performance are great.
Hi there. Firstly, nice job! It looks like you have some great industry experience, right out of university. It’s also clear that your leadership have noticed customer-facing skills and your ability to communicate in a clear and effective way by virtue of the fact you’ve been selected to be in front of clients.
I’d be remiss not to ask - have you considered an implementation/sales engineer role? I was an agency recruiter in a previous life and this would be the exact profile that I’d look for when recruiting for either role and the client could flex on profile and/or wanted to develop their own talent. Not everybody has a tech mind/background with natural customer-facing qualities and it seems that you do.
Anyway, I digress! As C1 writes, the metrics are great. Can you include phrases like ‘stretch assignment’ or ‘growth project’?
Is there anything you’ve done within your current role to promote equality/diversity etc - think action, not just ambition.
Have you trained/mentored/developed others? Perhaps when they joined the team? Looks like you have experience w Zendesk, have you completed any accreditations or external training? If not, could you look at this and/or joining an online Zendesk community? Or better still… look into Salesforce accreditations ;-)
Will you send a cover note in accompaniment? I’m conscious that with two different roles, it may not be clear which direction that you want to move in. You might consider a separate CV for each role.
Feel free to DM me if you have any Qs and kudos to you for seeking feedback. Best of luck!
Thank you so much for this reply.
I have thought about an implementation role! However, not a sales role. Sales is just not something that interests me.
I can include some of those phrases on my resume.
We do have a diversity committee that I have attended events for, but I do not serve on that committee. My workload is a lot right now since I am providing support for two of our products alone on my support shift.
Yes, I have trained a couple of new BSAs and Project Managers on how to solve common tickets for our products. They would get paired up with me on support for a couple of weeks and I would show them the ropes. I also got to be a part of the interview process for a couple of candidates that were joining my team. This was like 5 months as a new employee as well.
I have considered looking into a Salesforce accreditation. I know Trailhead is a good place for training. I was just not sure how much of a difference a Salesforce certificate makes. Please educate me on this topic if I am wrong.
Yes, I will be sending a cover letter with my resume. I agree it is not clear which direction I am going for. As of right now, I am open to another BSA or Support role.
Clarity of language is a problem in some places. For example, the note about (each file) is confusing. Read very carefully and ask yourself would someone who has little expertise in this area understand what I am saying?
Microsoft word online and other programs also have more modern resume templates you can use
DM for referral opportunities at EY. Internally hiring for this position based on your resume.
This is a great start! After going through thousands of resumes and many many interviews, I would recommend the following;
First, some modern formatting so it doesn’t look like another text resume. You want it to stand out. Even a small graphical element that has one colour; don't over do it.
Next, I would simplify the descriptions in your experience. It’s too wordy without adding substance; you want it short and to highlight the role/achievement which will then allow the interviewer to ask more about the topic in the interview. For example: "Created process to quickly find solutions in Zendesk using tags" and then you can talk about how you did it and the results in the interview. Also, "Selected to represent CivicPlus's support team at the Annual CivicSummit to provide onsite support." We don't want to spend a long time on each resume when we have 1000 to look at. The goal here is to catch our eye so we give you that initial call.
Under skills you have Spanish as a technical skill, it should be under Languages. Make sure the items you put as a technical skill you actually know then in some depth; I will quiz someone on these and many times you find they just added as filler which reflects negatively on them. In the interests, it’s good to mention a technical side project you might have done at home.
Also, if you can make sure you customize your resume to each job you apply for with the relevant skill they are looking for.
Good luck with your hunt! Tech Support can be very rewarding if you get in at a good company :)
Some suggestions:
Instead of invented I would put developed. Instead of provided product training say trained 200+
Move your skills to the top, even before experience & maybe add in some soft skills. I'd remove interests, you can put that on your LinkedIn profile.
Also, no need to include the date you graduated and also no need to put remote.
