Hi everyone! Happy Friday! Is a personal trainer for 3 months (2x/week) really worth it? I am trying to reduce some pounds and get better at weight lifting too. Please advise as I have not done personal training before and the prices are pretty high at my gym. Thanks!

Absolutely worth it if they're good and you are diligent. I had a coach in powerlifting for a year and he led me to a 2-state championship victory.

Not sure if they will offer 1x/ week but that might be an easier starting point! My old trainer would train me once a week then I used an app he designed to work out 2-3x/ week. I lost 15 lbs in 3 months

1000% worth it.

Thank you all for all the valuable insights. Appreciate it. Have a great weekend!

I've had trainer for 4 months now and it has been worth it as far as motivating me to go work out. It's expensive, so you bet I'm not missing any sessions 😂

If you’re new to weight lifting and don’t wanna do the research yourself then having a trainer at least for a bit it worth it! They can teach you a lot!! Then you can go on your own once you feel ready and save some $$!

like

It depends on the trainer. I bought a package from my gym for a certain amount of personal training sessions and didn’t feel it was worthwhile. The first trainer was trying to be sneaky and doing “personal” training for several people at once. He’d jump from person to person across the gym, leaving me to essentially work out on my own just pay extra for it. The other one was fine but I felt like we constantly did the same workout.

I’ve personally found more value in group fitness classes. I get variety, they’re most cost effective and someone is still there to push me / correct my form when needed.

I'm an RN of 7 years, experience as a coordinator, on committees and do all the things. But now I just don't want to go to work anymore. I have anxiety every morning over nothing, just having to go perform my job. I could do my job in my sleep so I'm just lost and confused. My body is clearly sending me messages to leave. But where do I go? I think I need to step out of patient care.

I know my anxiety is getting in the way of my legal work. I have writer's block every time I need to prepare pleadings or a Response. Some harsh criticism my writing skills a year ago has really gotten to me. I realize I am being ridiculous, but if rational thinking were enough to overcome anxiety then none of us would be in here. Do any of you have go to methods for conquering your anxiety and just getting the work done?

Do you think it's true that white healthcare professionals have an inherent bias? Do we? I understand the differences between prejudice and racism (and that neither has a place in healthcare), but I wonder if a Black patient's (well-informed) prejudice against a white doctor could impact their care and if a Black doctor would have that same issue serving white patients.

I need help interpreting my Day 3 fertility test results. I am planning on starting a family within the next 5-7 years and wanted to get a baseline understanding. My OB/GYN says my Pap smear was normal. My results are as follows:

Female, 28 years old.
AMH: 8.41 ng/mL
FSH: 10.0 mIU/mL
Estradiol: 22 pg/mL

Are these numbers okay? Do I have time or should I be acting soon?
