I got a hands-free pump bra and an AC adapter. I pumped during my 15-minute commute to and from school. Being a HS teacher, I had to get creative with my parking and pump removal. Lol. During school, I pumped during my plan which was across lunch. I was lucky and had a student teacher for the first semester so I could duck out when I was super uncomfortable. I don’t know what elementary teachers have by way of plan (specials?). Those are short so know that you can refrigerate your pump parts so you don’t have to clean them EVERY time. Learn how to hand express so you can run to the bathroom when you’re super uncomfortable. Those are my key tips. Find a supportive buddy—it’s HARD and there were a few times I had to go cry to someone.
What kind of hands free pump did you have?
Congratulations! I pumped after coming back and I was surprised at how thirsty I was the whole time. Bring tons of water with you! I also bought the madela wipes and a giant tote bag. Good luck!
You got this mama! Make sure you have a coworker who is supportive that you can lean on. Hydrate. And you’ll need a place to keep bottles. If you can’t keep it in the fridge, you’ll need some kind of cooler. Consistency is key to maintaining supply!
