Hi everyone! I am trying to make a career jump into UX research and I am finding it very difficult. I have a research background, but I don't think that is working in my favor. Does anyone have any tips or know of any opportunities for internships?

My best friend transitioned from business analyst to UX research. She took a lot of online courses for networking and skill building and did some portfolio pieces to show off to interviewers.

Most companies won’t have designated research roles so you’ll likely need to have technical UX and design skills to go along with your research background. Unfortunately many companies don’t budget enough for research nor do they allow their UX teams to spend enough of their time researching.

You’re looking for a rare role. I know Adobe has a robust UX research team though the members I’ve met were PhDs in psychology or cognitive science.

PM1 3 minutes of research yielded these results, I'm sure there are more:

I got a job offer for what seems to be a great company but I’m not sure if I would have the same life balance. I started interviewing as a way to see my worth in the industry. My current role is at a small company, and I’m not sure how I could grow within the role because Im not advancing my skill, I just do the same thing every day at a lower level. I like my current role because it’s flexible and I’m paid well for not doing very much work. Should I switch to a more rigorous job?

I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?

Do you disclose when you were promoted on your CV? I’ve been as a assistant manager for over a year but have just been ‘promoted’ to manager. Have been doing the same role for the entire time… only thing that changed was my official role title. Do I need to split this out into two roles on my CV?

Would ideally like to keep as one optically to avoid having to ‘spend more time in the manger role’… as I’ve been doing that role for a year now and keen to move on!

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas!

Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?
