I feel like I am not getting clear guidance or leadership from my design manager or my PM. I have been creating project initiatives, frameworks and discussion guides but there is no one really assisting me in creating them or stepping up to make decisions on the best path forward. I am trying my best but it seems like I am the only one creating execution docs and coordinating efforts across all stakeholders. Isn’t this my PM and Design managers role? Is this a major red flag?

The best PMs I’ve worked with are always on top of their shit and will consistently check in to see progress and discuss anything that might be unclear or missing. It’s their job to do so and bridge the gap between you and engineering so if you’re left in the dark often I’d say it’s not a good company to work for.

Two things going on here: (1) the current org doesn’t value UX enough (coming from CPO/ CEO) so it’s not going to be a good fit and /or (2) you may have outgrown your position / role and you should move to a management / leadership position so you have the mandate to fix the problems you see. I struggled in a company for over 6 years exhausting myself trying to push through change but its hard or pointless if others higher up don’t want it - then you’re better off finding a better fit for you. For me, when I finally moved to a new company that valued UX and my opinion and offered me a leadership role, it was like night and day and it was meant to be. I now can lead the change I think is best and have the company and the Product Directors as peers and collaborators.

I am currently a L5 designer and have been vocal about my lack of support since I have been hired, so they should all be aware of how I am feeling.

Yeah if you’re doing your PMs job consistently it’s time to look for a new job. There are times (honestly with worse PMs than better ones) that it feels like I’m having to pitch in but if you have to do that every day and Recs aren’t clear and they aren’t doing everything in their power to make them clearer then you’ve got a big problem.

I just got fired for bringing up similar issues at my job lol it IS your PMs job

I have been a PM at my company for 2 years now, with a years prior experience as associate PM. I got promoted before my certification, but was told if I did not get a PMP or ACP I would get my promotion taken away.
Received the ACP and have not seen a raise. Now we have a girl that is getting a 15k raise and going straight from Project coordinator to PM (with one year experience) and no certification. She will now be 5k less than me. If she gets CaPM she gets a 5k raise. Wong to feel slighted?

How would you answer this question in an interview: “what are two things you are apprehensive of about this position?” I wasn’t prepared for this question so that’s probably where I bombed the interview. Whatever there’s other jobs, but for future reference what good examples you have so I can prepare again?

Hello,

I hope to go into management consulting, and want to apply for
EY-Parthenon. Does anyone have any tips on how to submit an application or even be considered for a full time role straight out of undergrad if you don’t come from a target school?

The professionals I have talked to as well as the website only allows target school (ivy league) undergrad students to apply through their respective portals.

How do I get a fighting chance?

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

2. Did you design the components and design system?

4. Wht was the most challenging part of this project.
5. What is something you would re-design if you were to go back.

But I was wondering if anyone has thoughts on approaching it or expectations on the prototype.

I had a really weird interview for Creative Director today.

It’s a small startup. HR interviewed me and asked all the hard hitting questions (how do you get design inspiration, how do you deal with design roadblocks, what sets you apart for this role?) which I thought was odd for a screening interview.

They made some affirmative noises then said the next step would be a design test (one pager) which I would present to a panel of interviewers including the CMO.
Anyone else think this is odd?
