Q for Google folks- in the time it took a friend to put me into referral system, the job listing I was interested in was taken offline. Does this mean the position is filled or just that they're moving to the next stage (eg interviews)?
In other words, is it worth asking my friend to connect with the hiring manager or has the ship sailed for that job?

You gotta do your research on salaries ahead of time so you can have a ballpark range to operate in. Glassdoor and Payscale are your friend in this case.
Also, in terms of negotiation… NEVER call out the number you’re looking at first. Ask the recruiter/interviewer “what is the typical salary range for someone w/ my level of experience?” I’ve learned this the hard way in interviews b/c if you wind up getting the offer and you want more $$$ you may be stuck
Always ask for more than your expectation. Expect they will negotiate and bring it down.

Unaware of the role and how it’s specific levels work/sit at ACN, but 90k is around what a T1 city Sr Consulting Development Analyst makes.
What are you making now? I think it’s also fair to base your expected salary off your current base.
Thanks A1! My last salary was 75 but I was absolutely underpaid in the role so 90 is technically a 20% bump but I also want to make myself “whole” not sure how unreasonable that is.
C1 I know, I know I don’t even have a good reason for not doing it this time I just went by the salary ranged listed in the posting. I usually do but she got to the question first this go around and quite honestly I’m not confident enough to maneuver out of that smoothly yet - hopefully I’ll get there soon though lol. Thank you!
