Someone I work with was not promoted, and works like a maniac. Instead others were bought in to groom into future leaders. I guess why would the boss do that. The person was really hard working and did all the admin for the account. He got angry and left the team. I question if I should remain on such a team. I did get promoted, but it seems fishy. I guess I don’t want to work and later be told I’m not going to move up the ladder. I just question it as the boss lost a work horse.

I’m 40. Should I cut experience on my resume before 2010? I already took off my college graduation year. How else can I defend against agism? I’m not looking to make more than $220k a year - honestly I don’t need it and would rather perform excellently even at a lower level than I can probably be hired for. Looking for longevity not an ego boost.

Any input on stroller wagons? Have a 4 year old and 1 year old.. eyeing the Keenz. I would want it for long walks where the 4 year old peters out and would want to take it on vacation. Is it absolutely ginormous and take up too much space on vacation? Any other brand suggestions?

Not really a question but more of a vent. I’m for all intents and purposes a single mom. I work long hours and when I’m not working, I’m with my kids. It is so hard to make friends with moms or people who get it. Some tell me to quit; others resent that I need flexibility. I’m exhausted. This is exhausting.

How do you all set boundaries and keep work from creeping into your time with your family every day? As a new mom going back to work I’m finding this to be difficult. I was always available and did whatever needed to be done before having a child, but now I really want to be able to shut down at the end of the day and be done, so I can soak up time with my baby.

Has anyone had success traveling with a 4 month old? We are debating traveling for thanksgiving this year (5 hour car ride, could be longer with traffic) and would be staying at a hotel. Lots of family will be there who want to meet him for the first time. Is 4 months a dangerous time to disrupt a routine and sleep training?

We are in the process of hiring a nanny to come in from 8am-5pm three days a week while I WFH. What is an appropriate number of paid sick and vacation days we should offer?

Am I overreacting? My husband has a new coworker and he tells me about the “funny” stories she has told him. These stories are about her romantic life and have included things like 1. Who she lost her virginity to and 2. Her getting her nipples pierced after a breakup. I think it’s inappropriate to have conversations like these with an opposite sex coworker. Am I wrong to think that?

I just got offered an in-house opportunity and am currently at a firm. My firm is more “laid back” in the sense I only bill about 90% of my goal and it’s no big deal. But I know I’ll need to crank it up if I want to be a member and not sure I want to be a member because I seriously value work life balance.

I’m nervous to take the in house gig bc I’m used to the excitement of litigation and dread corporate paper pushing. Can anybody share their experiences and advice re going in house? I’m torn

I'm on my week 16 pregnancy. I used to have high sugar intake in my diet before pregnancy. I was 137 lbs before pregnancy, and I'm 138 lbs now. I think I'm still below average in weight gaining. So can I take more sugar like juice or coke? I've been really craving those like before. My blood sugar level is relatively high, but still in normal range.

Just a thought to discuss.
I grew up in USSR, my mom and dad both worked at the airport and my mom was working shifts (2/2) as she was a chemical engineer approving planes engine conditions as acceptable to fly.
So ever since I was 8, I was going to school by myself, I was picking up my brother from kindergarten and taking him home. I was feeding him and myself with stuff my parents left in the fridge.
As an HR I talk a lot with female employees who are trying to make it all work. Keep reading

I was told today by my coach that it’s really hard to balance my workload and coach me because I’m on a FWA. I don’t think she wanted too but the partner in charge of my department told her that I am good at the tax work I have done and that I should be promoted.
