Hi everyone! I’m a young attorney trying to establish myself in this field. I’m finding myself with a ton of time & wanted to take advantage of it and try my hand at writing a law review article. Any niche privacy topics that spark your interest or advice, generally?

Nothing wrong with writing at all! For establishing your expertise, though, you might be better off publishing in trade journals, online, sending out articles by email, etc. If you prefer a law review article and are doing it purely for the exercise and enjoyment of it, that’s fine, but the people who will be potential clients probably won’t see it.

I feel like such a noob asking this, but what is a trade journal haha.

I think you’re right though, especially considering the process is much longer with law review articles as well.

How many YOE

Thank you :)

Pros:

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

Cons:

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time

Talk to me about side effects from progesterone. I’ve been on suppositories for 2 weeks in my TWW and im having the WILDEST side effects but also similar to pregnancy. I have the CRAZIEST dreams about peeing myself, helping Whitney Carson give birth in a bus. You name it I’m dreaming it. I also feel like I smell horribly. Like a new scent

Hi, I’m an attorney looking to take the CIPP/US exam in the fall and I’m trying to get a sense of how long others studied for the exam. I realize everyone is different, so I’m just looking for ballpark numbers in terms of weeks or hours I should set aside so I can plan. Thank you!

How difficult was the exam? Can you share your experience studying for the CIPM exam? Is it advisable to skip CIPP?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi all! Has anyone else been interviewing for in-house, mid-level Privacy counsel roles? I have found these interviews to be extremely demanding (11+ 45min-1hr interviews with technical/legal specific questions + 10hr writing assessment). Has any one else experienced this? Is anyone else finding that these assessments are becoming more of a norm in the interview process for privacy roles? Thoughts on this or advice? Thank you!

So as a 30ish yo with a government/PE/tech background and CIPM/CIPP… I’m finding privacy work is just much easier and interesting than other kinds, but still pays plenty well.

Is it too late/inadvisable to go to law school to specifically aim for privacy work?

I just find some firms are unwilling to entertain the idea that anyone but a lawyer has anything relevant to contribute in this space…
