I’ve gotten so fed up with recruiters and hiring managers all together. Companies can’t even speak about their value before they’re shoveling KPIs down your neck (only thing the older workforce cares about now, even though most people fake activities). The disconnect from 35 and under to 35 and older has grown significantly in the last few years. All younger people want is a place they can grow and all the old folk do is take in record profits / lay off younger people.
Hey! I was affected by the recent tech layoffs (at Stripe) and was curious what others have done to get back on the horse quickly. Open to any and all suggestions! Currently I’ve been scouring Builtin which has yielded a few interviews here and there, but overall I feel like I’ve been moving too slowly . Thanks in advance!

For context: there are two paralegals: one has been there since January and the other recently started. The one that recently started gets treated more favorably than the former.
Today's tip: Your resume (and cover letter) should target the specific position. The easiest way to do this is to edit your professional summary and key skills sections (which should comprise the top third of your resume) to reflect the qualifications required or desired in the job posting. Be honest – only reference those skills you have!
Advice for getting past burn-out.
I’ve been a recruiter for 20 yrs, but am still young. First 10 yrs were Corporate TA; most recent 10 are with Agency. For the majority of my career, I’ve been passionate about my job. I navigated the highs and lows and was always enthusiastic about starting each workday. We recently had leadership changes that affect me negatively…. But my job is still intact. However, I have lost my mojo. Reviewing Recruiter job postings does nothing to inspire me.

Do we really still support SHRM? I was a fan when I first got in HR now though I’ve had a few second thoughts. I also used to volunteer to review scholarships they provided, but after the last SHRM conference I started asking myself, why pay…. I also keep update myself outside of SHRM as I’ve had multi-site and country responsibility so I’ve had to usually keep uptodate.
Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.
I would like recommendations of staffing agencies to start a career in recruiting. I have a background in sales and always ended up being one of the top sellers but then I decided to pivot careers and became an RN. I worked in a medical office assisting veterans with mental health claims but it was still metric driven, which I also did great in. My interest sparked when a recruiter reached out to me to become a healthcare recruiter, interview went super well but unfortunately I needed a BA.
Getting frustrated that I can't even land a job interview. I'm a recruiter with 5 years of experience in agency looking for a remote opportunity in Europe... Know someone earlier in their HR career that’s looking to get certified. It’s been a while since I originally took the exams and have just recertified since. Which is more valuable or preferred these days…PHR or SHRM-CP?
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
I am tasked with revamping our recruitment process to be OFCCP compliant. We have a large warehouse and hire temp-to-perm using mostly outside temp agencies. This creates an issue of not having an applicant pool for our “permanent” hires when the temps role perm. 98% of hires look like they are 1:1. Has anyone faced this issue and how did you handle it?

Hi! I requested a raise in late august and am still waiting on confirmation. Last update was 3 weeks ago from my boss who said he put in the request and is still waiting on approval. I can’t help but think they’re just delaying until the new quarter which is the normal raise period. Is a month and a half a long time to be waiting for this? And if it is approved is it reasonable for me to ask for “backdated pay” to when I originally asked?
