Hi everyone! I’m currently working in the analytics field, and have been with Deloitte for about 3 years. With so many people now getting their masters in analytics, wondering if I also should as I’m worried I’ll fall behind. With an undergrad in stats and business, and already working in the field I want to be in, however, not sure if it’ll be worth it to spend the time & money. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Honestly, experience is more important than your degree in analytics. It might be a different story if you go into data science fields related to deep learning and other variations of “AI” models though.

What type of work do you currently do and what do you think your goal is?

like

People from the Ivey MSc in Business Analytics get the degree to get entry level data science jobs at Deloitte, you’re fine.

Go get a degree if you can manage the finances and time. It will pay in the longer term.

Your experience will keep you from falling behind, the degree will help you get ahead.

Really rethinking this whole accounting gig. I used to be so passionate about it and wanted become CFO one day, but I’m slowly starting to dread the work and my life. Everything around me has taken a toll. I’ve tried both big 4 and industry and I really don’t like either side, but I don’t know where to pivot to. Part of me wants to drop everything, travel and start my own business but idk if that’s the best thing to do amid recession fears… could really use some advice :/

Friends, I’m 25, entering my third year in MBB, and I’m so burnt out (I’ve averaged close to 80 hours / week since joining and hate the culture). I’ve always had a passion for public interest law, have worked at an impact litigation firm, and am convinced that going to law school is the answer. I’m afraid that without a big scholarship, I’ll land in big law to pay off loans and will be in the same situation I’m in now (with 100k+ debt). Any advice? Thank you!

After freelancing for years and doing well, would you consider a full time job? It's really hard to give up the flexibility of freelance, but... also hard to give up having a 401k match again. Salary would be similar to freelance money, but less time off. Thoughts?

Hi all, I feel i am not getting the best experience at an SC level and wanted to see if it is the norm or an anomaly. I am new to consulting and usually feel that’s the reason but I am starting to question my team’s methods because I don’t think I am developing much. My team includes 1 of each - Sc ( me) , manager and Director. I am not included in client meetings and rather get a recording to watch later to bring out insights and get those feedback incorporated. There is0 client connect for me
