Who is hiring?
Hello, I am having my first connect with recruiter at Amazon for modernisation Architect role next week. It is scheduled for 30 min. Could anyone throw some lights on how the first connect looks like. Do I need to prepare in terms of behavioral questions(which I seen quite a lot in everyone's post) . Thank in advance you for your support.

Has anyone ever heard HRU
I've been in the Government for almost 5 yrs and all during the pandemic we were at work daily. We were on shift work and the supervisors had no concept of time and called ppl after hours. At this time I'm in the office with a total of 7 ppl and 4 of which are leaving as we speak including myself. I accepted a contract position just yesterday to have the work from option. My client only expects me in the office 2 days per week. 😏
Im also in procurement as a COR and all of my contacts are outside the building... we just use a classified system to enter all contract docs. So um yeah it would make sense to wfh ans maybe go in once a week to upload the docs; that's what the Contracting Officers did during the pandemic.
Wow. That's the complete opposite of us. I also work in procurement. We are the only department that has remained WFH. I'd assess how much value WFH brings to your life and potentially find another procurement role that is WFH.
If the role isn’t one you enjoy nor do you see a ROI on career growth I’d discuss your situation with supervisor to potentially transfer you to a TW friendly group. Otherwise if you like the role you need to express as well but be open for him/her to say no.
I am also a Contracts Specialist and we only have to be in the office 2 days a pay period. Unless you REALLY love it there, I would look at opportunities at other agencies that will allow you to have a hybrid schedule or work remotely 100%.
What agency? Good time to leave. Opportunities everywhere
Hi! Has there been an opportunity to provide hybrid work in your role? Can there be a level of compromise?
Your goal should be to out perform the bosses expectations. Others will notice your performance and negative boss will his opinions sullied in time.
My clients are not back in the office, only there 1 day a pay period. I'd suggest seeing if you can get in with a different agency. Any of the Healthcare focused agencies are allowing more work from home. Also, check with your union rep, if you are in a position covered by the union, especially if you are the only department not doteleworking.
I work in procurement and have been WFH since March 2020. Time to look at other opportunities!
If you're a civil servant (and even if not), there are lots of remote jobs out there. If you're unable to reason with the boss, there are plenty of government jobs in the VA, IRS, DoD, and others that are 100% remote. Update your resume and start using the "remote" or "location negotiable" function in USAJobs. If you need any assistance navigating USAJobs or need a resume review, I'm happy to help.
We just went hybrid/remote 50% from wfh 100% prior about a month ago at NASA. We have some that work remote 100% and very few that will be on-site 100%. Our management team went hybrid both government and contractors and every other Friday everybody wfh and second Friday we can flex it either by already working 80 hrs or take vacation hrs.
Govt management is stuck in the 1950s. My wife’s agency has completely reorganized, and now everybody she works with is located anywhere but her office. She spends most of her week in massive zoom calls with people all over the country and Europe. Her boss is in DC. She is not. She still has to go into the office once a week, where she dutifully joins said calls, being the only person in the office.
I’ve watched this happen with my government customers. One department head was vocal during the pandemic that everyone should be back in the office, once the agency started making plans to come back, her entire department knew what would happen. She lost 3 of her best employees to another agency before WFH was ended. It left her with only her weakest employees. Employees she thought would have no choice. One resigned and left without a job! So until her boss recognizes it’s the WFH decision that got that department facing a staffing crisis, nothing will change.
