Alright so there’s a thing called reclaim my status. If you had a reason why you lost status in the last year or two like COVID, baby, new job, etc. You need to submit some basic documentation and they give you that status for 3 months with a DRASTICALLY lower threshold to make the status permanent and even higher tiers are much easier to obtain during those 3 months. Google “reclaim my status Delta”
UPDATE: ***“likely no merit based raises unless promotion”*** UPDATE: Layoffs are possible, markets are “fluid.” Leadership will not commit to saying layoffs are off the table. Overview on Business 1. Financial revenue decline 2. Cost Savings NEW INFO 1. 10% short on revenue plan 2. Turnover down significantly, 2,000 excess employees 3. Pricing pressures are creating economic headwinds
Covid Progression 1) Wait for Herd Immunity 2) Just protect yourself with the vaccine 3) we need to incentivize people to get vaccinated 4) don’t worry that the vaccines don’t work, still get them 5) we need to ban the unvaccinated from society 6) “I got my twelfth booster shot” 7) “the unvaccinated are killing people” 8) “are we justified in getting rid of antivaxxers from a utilitarian standpoint?” 9) “please step on this train sir” 10) gov labels anyone against lockdowns domestic terrorist
Have anyone successfully negotiated down their rent due to Covid? I’m in NYC and my management has been very inflexible.
Got promoted to senior but did not get a raise to go with it. Firm keeping salaries flat this year due to COVID-19, but I was shocked when I found out promoted staff wouldn’t be getting a raise either. To me, this whole thing rings hollow because the firm has told us multiple times that they were projecting flat growth for the year when compared to last year (which was one of the best in firm history). So it pisses me off that they shot their mouth off about how great year last year was...cont
Anyone know of any senior strategy openings? Just got laid off and would greatly appreciate any leads.
Despite our covid numbers going up, my district is starting in-person learning. I teach first grade and am scheduled to go back Dec 8th. We are using a "concurrent" model where we will be teaching both in person and online students simultaneously. Mondays will be planning days. Is anyone else doing this? What advice do you have to do this successfully without being totally exhausted?
So I've read quite a few comments regarding race based discrimination in the layoff process at EY and Deloitte. This can't possibly be true though right?
Now that the CDC says no masks needed indoors if vaccinated, is anybody concerned what that means for kids under 12? I’m assuming that the honor system isn’t entirely going to work (I.e., some unvaccinated people will go maskless). I don’t want my 5 and 7 year olds around unvaccinated unmasked strangers, but it’s also a bummer to stop taking them places. Not that I was taking them that many places, but the occasional grocery store, shoe store, etc. seems riskier now.
So...thoughts on the rumored Uber layoffs?
Have you ever seen one of the nicest, most talented, hardest working people get fired for no good reason. Really breaks my heart about how heartless this industry can be ☹️
When someone gets fired/laid off but they keep their previous title/agency on LinkedIn, does anyone ever tell them to change it?
Question for the more seasoned consultants, these layoffs and overall downturn in our industry, is it an annual cycle? Or is this abnormally bad
Few years back, I heard from the inside Ogilvy Chicago and VSA formed an anti-poaching agreement to not hire each other's talent. I said nothing, taking no chance getting my source fired. Illegal?
Anyone made the switch from Tax/Audit to analyst/Consulting? What's your favorite thing about the switch? I just received an offer from Accenture as an Analyst for something unrelated to my last position. Really fired up. 🎉
Are Big 4 (US back office in India) very stringent with Independence (securities etc)? I dnt work directly with the clients. I have slightly delayed declaring my securities and also made a mistake which I am unable to change now.
I currently have a Chase Sapphire Preferred (my only personal credit card). Thinking of getting a United Explorer Card for the 70K miles. Doing home improvement work and will def be able to meet the minimum expense limit. Worth it to get this card? Better off getting something else?
Anyone here go to daycare as a child while your parents worked? Do you feel like it impacted your relationship with your parents today? My daughter goes to daycare while I work and I want to make sure we have a great relationship despite not being together 24/7.
If I get a CFA but have zero experts in investing or portfolio management, will the Charter, alone, get me a job? If so, what would my expected salary be? I’m 40 yrs old with 14 yrs of public sector Defense Budget experience making $102K now for a Big 4.
Hello everyone, Hope you guys are doing well. My current CTC is 7 LP and I have altogether 5.5 years of experience (3 years in statutory audit field, which they consider as relevant. And 2 years in credit field) So do you think the CTC I am getting as an experienced associate in pwc sdc is okay or should I ask for more ? I am just enrolling in 401k, what does it mean to max out 401k contribution? I googled and it says max contribution is 19k, so should I do 19k / my salary and contribute that %?
PowerPoint gurus - I’m helping a client find short term help for an important presentation. Please DM me if you are good at storytelling and slide design. You will be compensated for this work. This will be a 3-4 day part-time engagement. I’m at a small tech focused firm, and don’t have in-house designers as yet. Plus I don’t want to spend hours building slides. Nothing illegal or fishy here. Thanks!
wanted to share this messed up situation I was in: was casually dating a person for 2 months and they told me they were engaged for two years before (which I didn’t really care). But the important piece of the information they left out was the fact that the person they were engaged to is literally their current roommate (which I have met many times and brought them snacks). Now I feel really lied to and silly. I was really trying to be a genuine person and supported them when their dog passed. 🥴
Any other BW out there working in investment banking / PE roles? I’m going to sound naive but I didn’t think the lack of diversity would be THIS bad. It’s hard for me to visualize myself succeeding in this field when I see no one who looks like me in a VP or higher role. It’s so discouraging and at times I ask myself if it’s worth it to stick it out here.
Hi guys, a prior boss now friend of mine is a partner within the big 4. He wants to ask what is an average salary of a Partner in the Big 4 (Cyber/Tech) with 20 + years of experience since he knows he is underpaid. Anyone got some ranges ? This shall help him renegotiate. Thanks!
What are the best consulting firms for someone with a TS/SCI with FSP? Non staffing roles. I’d rather do strategy, transformation, tech integration, etc...
Thoughts on when it is too early to tell your team about a pregnancy? I'm only at 7 weeks but am heading into a HELL month of depos and am exhausted all the time. I really don't want to tell yet, but don't think I can physically pull the kind of hours they're going to be expecting of me. I said I have a medical issue that I'm looking into but am required to get at least 6 hours of sleep per night, but honestly that will not be enough.
About to start traveling A LOT. Do people recommend southwest or United? Flying out of Chicago and equidistant to midway and ORD.
Any recommendations for certifications that are relatively quick and easy to get? Been on the bench for a while and trying to get some "quick wins" to motivate myself :/
Manager level, looking to exit soon. M&A experience predominantly. Any tips on where to look first (or “how” to look, LinkedIn kinda sucks) that actually compensates around $180-200k? Any/all ideas welcome.
Hey fellow moms! I have a toddler 2.5 yro and getting a lot of questions from family and friends about gifts for her for the holiday season. Any recs on what you loved for your kids around that age?
