Hi everyone, it's great to be along like minded people. I'm starting to feel like the business world is not for me. I enjoy nature, I enjoy animals, I enjoy doing stuff with my hands but at the same time I'm really passionate about technology and business. Lately, I've been feeling that I don't belong here and I want to completely leave corporate. I'm 25 with about 100k(30% in S&p500), living in Greece. No liabilities, no bought house. Hi all, I have the long-term goal of ultimately getting into a good Venture Capital firm at Associate level. I currently work at Amazon, did my undergrad and Masters in Economics at LSE. I have 2 main questions:
1) Is it even possible/feasible to pivot from Amazon to VC given my background?
2) I have the option to internally transfer in Amazon to a product/program manager role or AWS in a start-up Manager role - which of these would be best to maximise my chances of eventually getting into VC?

Anyone ever been fired after being on a performance plan?

Everyone has heard the excuse “I’m underperforming because my territory sucks”. What if you can prove that you are objectively being screwed by the territory you inherited? There’s only so much “find a way” you can manage in barren land and it’s quite tiresome to see your peers succeed off of less than half the effort. The conversation with management has been had and, while empathetic to a degree, no solution has been offered.

Current company is scaling fast and reps in higher segments are struggling to hit quota. Is this normal in SaaS?

I’ve had a fair amount of success in a couple of direct sales ventures, but I’ve ultimately never risen to the top because I’m not a great teambuilder. I’m trying to figure out how to pivot my career & make something from the skills I learned there, but I’m not really sure what that would look like because I never saw myself getting into sales in the first place. Where should I go from here? What is the pay structure typically like in entry-level sales jobs?

Stay with current company or move up-market before going AE/management? Currently top SDR/BDR at SaaS company selling to SMBs w/option to move to SDR management or AE. Also have offers to move to larger SaaS companies at the Enterprise level still as BDR

I am currently exploring new opportunities as an AE (I have about 2 years of experience in SaaS sales). Would you rather have a higher base salary and lower/capped commission structure, a lower base salary and higher/more generous commissions structure or something is the middle?

I have a final interview for an AE position next week for a saas company. 30 min interview followed by role play. I’m pretty nervous even though I feel like i shouldn’t be but I’m just excited for the chance to finally move from my BDR position.
