Been in HR for 5 years. Leaving due to misalignment in passion - love people, procedure, etc. I hate WFH. Going to an essential role with good benefits. Just applied to a role where my background in helping people, HR, investigations, interviewing, paperwork, policy, DE&I, implicit bias training and fast pace will be very timely and helpful.
Applied to a state trooper/investigator role - in the background check/psychological screening portion of the interview process.
Been in HR 20 years and am considering the same.
Been in Hr for 10 years and stepping towards leaving it. It’s not for me
Y’all. I just got here after 15 years elsewhere. Where are you trying to go?
For real, if you want to talk, I’m here. I’ve worked in a bunch of functions (ops, strategy, planning, finance, product) and a bunch of industries (fashion, finance, tech and consulting) and I’d be happy to share whatever is helpful.
Note: important gap in my experience to acknowledge - I’ve never worked for a start up or a small company, so while I have diversity in industry and function, everything is F500 biased. This is particularly important if speed is your highest priority.
I think Everyone in hr is considering it due to our role in the organization during Covid, right?!
Learn non-HR stuff: Like technology, marketing, finance, sales, digital transformation, design thinking, agility, innovation, operations, data, ethics etc to stay competitive.
I’ve moved between HR, consulting and general management, including roles as CFO and CEO. Now I’m on the board of a for-profit company. HR can be a solid springboard if you are aggressive about getting rotations and establish credibility in every project you pursue. If you are interested in international secondment, that could help as well
Have been in HR for 7+ years and contemplating the same. Looking to get into DEI work to try and actually make a difference.
I have been in HR for 18 years and am feeling the same way. I just don’t know what direction I want to go. I love operations and tend to be very tactical and strategic in getting work accomplished. I’m also in my 50’s and feel uneasy about making a change or starting over, so to speak.
