Hi everyone, I’ve seen a ton of posts recommending bogleheads. Would you all be willing to attest to it personally and share what kind of growth you’ve seen by following the simple three fund philosophy (or bogle’s philosophy as a whole)?
New investor here, a lot to learn so thanks for all the resource you all share.

From their “Getting Started: Investment Philosophy”:

- Develop a workable plan
- Invest early and often *key - compounding*
- Never bear too much or too little risk
- Never try to time the market
- Use index funds when possible
- Keep costs low
- Diversify
- Minimize taxes
- Keep it simple
- Stay the course

So in terms of personal experience it’s helped to optimize my COMPLETE financial picture (not just investments) while minimizing effort / time spent managing.

As it relates to performance it varies as not everyone on bogleheads subscribes to a 3-fund only. There are a lot of portfolio styles but everyone generally agrees with the keeping costs low, staying the course, and utilizing your indices/etfs.

Also I’ve made more money from bogleheads than from WSB 🤷‍♂️

I'm tired of showing organizations how to be "data-driven".
I think I can't stomach more "data governance" programs.

Having said that, I know a few CDOs with TC >$1M.

So, this is a little awkward, but I recently moved to SD for a fresh start, and honestly, I love this city. My problem is I have been more of a homebody since I moved here and I'm a little intimidated to go out and meet people because I don't feel like I fit in here. I am overweight and this city is full of active, and attractive people. I guess I am wondering what my experience would be if I got out more? I feel like people look at me when I'm in public because I stand out due to my size.

In negotiation for a Manager Role for BNY Mellon (grade K). Looking for some guidance on how hard I can push the issue with increasing my offer.
My convo with the HR recruiter was that he would push for $130k plus a sign on bonus. Offer is coming back at $125k with no bonus. Exiting my current position I'll be leaving a 3% pay increase, $12k bonus payout next month and full remote work on the table. Those considered it would be a lateral financial move for the 2023 year.

Income ‘22,190k. ‘23, 295k. Age 26

I would be capturing company match with either 401k contribution. I wouldn’t be maxing out mega Backdoor, probably about 25-30k. Want to put another 50k in brokerages

Question about credit scores and MBA loans. (FYI I know this is not mathematically the best option but want to do it to remove mental burden of student loans). Planning on paying off the balance of my MBA loans, ~100K, at the end of the summer once I can save a little more. I have offers to refinance which would give me a free $1,000 and slightly lower interest rate. Would refinancing now and then paying off the “newer debt” in 3 months negatively impact my credit score?
