Hi everyone, looking for some advice on my current role. It’s evolved a lot since I originally started out awhile back. I got promoted a year back but, my job description, versus what I do, are very different.
I set and maintain media naming standards
Standardize all media data reporting
Work with all agencies to set up any new data points
Work across agencies to validate data
Deliver data to internal data lake and MMX
Work with BI and marketing team to dumb down work load

My company contracts a web developer, we have a set amount of hours for the quarter and pay over if more work is needed.
He never gets anything done. Doesn’t answer emails half the time. The one thing he’s done was take out a blurb that threatened our eligibility for patent renewal.
We have another company taking over in January, but I still have some pretty important dev needs until then and I can’t get him to do a thing. I truly try to give him all he needs.

The two most common things on this bowl that disappoint:

(1) people saying what do you think you signed up for

(2) people saying that's why we get paid the big bucks.

Nobody thats suffering actually understood it was going to be that bad. And that's no reason to tolerate/perpetuate the toxic parts of our profession even if you did.

And, we don't get paid large salaries to deal with unhealthy environments. We get paid because we perform a function our clients are legally required to use.

Yesterday was a good day. I was really impressed with myself. I woke up at 5, practiced dance lessons, did two water colors, made breakfast and tea, got to work by 10, put in 8-10 hours of solid work and then came home. It’s been ages since I painted or danced.
However today, I slept till 7:00, did not work out or have food. Still got to work by 10 and did 8 solid hours of work.
Some days are good and some are just okay. And that is okay. Trying to build on my good days and we all can. :)

I just recently promoted to HR assistant manager. I have my PHR and working towards my SPHR. I am the lowest paid employee in the depth. Meanwhile I was the dedicated person to training all new hires. I found out as a PM training an APM, this individual was getting paid $2k more than me. She was recently let go and I received a $8k salary increase to get to mid $80k. I feel it’s low as PM in construction. Tips on salary negotiations?

I am currently a practice manager for a large practice that is in 3 states with over 300 locations. When I was promoted 3 years ago it was to take the place of the DOO that resigned, who was making 6 figures, and doing a quarter of the work that I do. They have me at $63,000 salary, but I work 60-70 hours a week due to the work load. Now they hired a new marketing employee, that was started at double my salary, and I feel very offended by this. What’s the best way to address this with HR?

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Thanks in advance!

6 years at a start up and the first to break through Mm and now Ent accounts. I broke the comp plan. I was paid a lower commission rate as the first rep hitting high numbers. The guys behind me they adjusted commission rates and spiffed them to equal and in some cases surpass my pay. My revenue as the top rep is a full third higher than the number 2 rep. To save their asses they promoted me and gave me a small base bump but kept my commissions % low so that my high number was my new at plan.

I recently interviewed for a great company and they are offer me a base + commission salary of which the base salary is much lower (15k less) than what I was making in previous role and is also below the industry rate. They say the commission will make up for my expectations. Now I am in a bit in bind because this is great company and will give me good exposure for future opportunities but I also want to negotiate the salary. How can I approach this?
