Hi everyone,

New to fishbowl here so I'll try not to sound so robotic😅. But I'm looking to change career paths in the field of electrical engineering and wanted to read any advice from those who were or are in the early stages of transition in their career and what were some things you all did to make yourself ready or a bit more prepared. For more context I'm an electrical designer for an MEP firm but want to get into product development as a product design engineer.

I work as an electrical designer in MEP (I don’t like that technically I can’t call myself an engineer until getting the PE). I would recommend building on skills related to the area of your interest and then start applying. LinkedIn could be a good tool to connect with recruiters and people who work in the company of your interest.

Yes. Honestly if you set your LinkedIn profile to "open for new opportunities" the recruiters will probably reach you first. However, these recruiters typically look for engineers for MEP firms.

Hi folks,

How can we get onsite opportunities long/short term?? I'm into core development ( Full stack), I don't see much possibilities of getting onsite opportunities in my domain.

Can anyone guide me what should I concentrate on? Should i write any exam or so? Is there any group/consultancy which can facilitate to get onsite opportunity???

I have a burning question. I have been teaching for over 18 years, which is something that nags me to no end.

Suppose you agree that the provided professional development offered through our districts is ineffective. Why not invest in your professional development by seeking a coach or mentor or even pay for professional resources that would help? To put it plainly, why don't we educators invest in our professional development?

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?
