Hi everyone, Random question- has anyone recently moved to Tennessee in the last two years? If so, what are the pros and cons? Which city should I consider moving to?

I think in order to give you a solid recommendation it'd be helpful to know where you're moving from or what kind of living environment you're looking for.

Ahhhhh good point. I currently live in Houston, Texas and I’m looking for a change in pace. I used to think Houston would be my forever home but I no longer feel that way. It’s too crowded and getting expensive. Plus, I’m over the whole flooding/hurricane experience.

So I just moved to a tier two/three city in the south, from LA, and I really love it. The pace is slower, the mindset is obviously very different but primarily it's just less competitive. I think in Tennessee you will also have a lot of insects/bugs in the summer. Nashville is nice if you like a city vibe. I would do a trip out there and check out different places. Do you get to work remotely or is there a location where your office is based.

Mhhhh good points. I’m moving from Houston so I’m hoping TN has a slower pace. Unfortunately, I’m used to the bugs in the south. 🥲 I think I’ll take your advice and scope out a few cities before I make my final decision. Thanks for the insight.

I lived in Nashville for a couple years a few years ago . It’s a cool place to have fun, but I wouldn’t settle long term bc of certain things. I came from the north so a couple of these might just be me not being used to the south. 1. The city is very segregated (even the bars/clubs) which was something I was not used to. 2. Not very pedestrian friendly - lack of sidewalks and the bus system is horrible. I’ve heard people in the south are more used to drive so this might be just be a me thing 3. Food spots close early. it was hard to find quality food (not fast food) open past 8/9pm.

With the W&K layoffs ... 1. Recruiters are getting psyched. 2. Freelancers are even more unnerved. 3. Axe will fall on people phoning it in at other shops. What are your other predictions ? People leave ad game altogether?

As a immigrant woman from middle class family, all my life, I felt the need to comprise everything, that I always get the third/fourth best choice because of money. My parents shamed me when I get anything good since I was a kid. So even now even I can afford some good things, I never get myself anything good, and I felt bad about it but still very penny pinching.

Anyone able to give genuine advice on how a Senior Consultant can (i) perform well in current role and (ii) advance to manager? It's a mix of both performing solidly as SC and showing signs that I can handle the next level, but would be very grateful if someone experienced can shed some light! #mentorship
