Hi everyone,
So I’ve always had a rough time trying to find what role titles I would be a good fit to apply to given that my career growth has been so peculiar (HR assistant at hotel, Operations Manager at hotel, seller support at Amazon, customer experience coordinator at an IT company, talent acquisition specialist at a health org)
In those roles I normally took more in my plate than the typical role requires (hr functions, data analysis, etc)
With 6-7 years if exp what role should I look?

I think right now your first order of business would be to narrow down what type of role/industry you'd like to focus on. From there, you can then optimize your resume to showcase any/all skills that you've amassed through your diverse career path and optimize them for the specific position you're targeting. Once you've tackled the first step, my recommendation would be to work with a professional who can optimize your resume. Plenty of folks on Upwork for this. Good luck!

The one that’s going to make you money is TA and working towards being a recruiter. The money is great but you will have to talk and be good at sales!

That’s actually a good pointer, I worked in an IT business for a bit so I know some of the terminology and needs some roles have which can help me a bit, now it is trying to see companies that want to give me a shot. Thank you for the pointers!

Mostly the roles that had me doing data analysis or projects, the HR department also is of interest.

I’ve been offered a job that starts Feb 1, but my firm pays out bonuses on Jan 31. I’m planning on giving notice in early- to mid-Jan that my last day will be the end of the month. Can I expect to still receive my bonus?

I’m going into a non-lawyer public interest role, so I’m really just hoping to stash my little first year’s bonus into a rainy day fund.

Edit: My start date is completely inflexible.

I’m wondering if anyone has any advice. I’m currently a CMO at a 150 person business but would really like to work at a larger company. I have 15 years of experience and am particularly good at product marketing and growth, though I’ve covered all areas of marketing as a leader. I’m happy to step way down in title, but I don’t even know where to start.

My network is all smaller SaaS tech companies (sub 200 employees / $30MM ARR).

How would you approach this search? Thank you!

For those target schools esp. M7 schools, I assume MBB get the most applications for summer internships in Nov. I am genuinely curious what they look for because by the time you apply, you are not even through 1st semester at school. Does this mean, you get screened by your undergrad/work experience?

Also, do we know roughly how many they interview on campus? If 800 out of 1000 HBS 1st yr students apply, how many get to the interview round?

Hi Everyone.

I’ve said this before and this is reminder to myself as well. What we say, like, comment, and share on FB or other social platform can hurt our job search, promotions or even our employment status.

I pulled a candidate for screening and due to the complexity of the role, I shared the candidates resume with the HM prior to screening. The HM immediately found the candidate on FB and the first thing he saw was a PUBLIC post the candidate wrote going on full attack

My CEO is looking to tighten up our work from home program and get people back into the office more. Most are out 3 to 4 days a week. I suggested 3 days in office 2 days out and the 3rd week of the month is a hell week, everyone is in 5 days!!! I was just hired as HR Generalist/department of one/first HR hire for a small start-up. First week in and I find out that previous COO is in rehab and has made some some egregious promises around comp, additional benefits to EEs, and also made some decisions that cost the company a significant amount of money. Company has offered to pay for 2 months leave. Now it seems like owner and other execs do not want this person to return. What do I need to consider regarding termination? Is ADA at play?

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)
