Hi everyone!

I'm looking to leave the consulting world but don't know where to start. I live in the DMV so everything is government and/government consulting. I'm looking for a place that has an international presence that will help me expand my world view. Also looking for a place where I feel that the intersection of my race and gender is a welcoming attribute....done with the microaggressive attitudes that leads to psychological torture the consulting world has to offer.

I feel you, but that's why I left DC. For me, the cooler work was elsewhere. Now I'm banking in Charlotte. Good luck on your search!

@VP Are you still single or do you have a family? That makes a world of a difference as well.

If you’re open to working at international NGOs, there are tons HQ’d in DC that give you opportunities to travel. I did before consulting and loved it but the pay is much less. The work is way more rewarding though

How do I transition from a Senior Executive Assistant role to Project Management? Ideally I would like to work in tech. How should I go about this? I currently work in the Real estate industry so it would be a totally new career path. Hi, I am a single-parent with a 9 year old daughter. Is anyone else dealing with same gender sleepovers with sexual exploration occurring? Exploring as in my daughter says outright “I am going to kiss you,” to her bestie before bed. Then after 15 minutes of giggling in bed I go to tell them to be quiet and see my daughter’s bestie is showing her buttcheeks to my daughter. To top it off they start trying to tell me they are laughing because they are reading “belly laugh books for kids”. Help.

You CAN be that leader that people want to work with. 1st, self assessment is required. Be honest: As a leader, have you engaged in/accepted Attribution Bias with a dash of gender &/or race bias? (See the pic) This is something we all need to be aware of as we lead our teams, provide performance feedback, & model the behaviors we'd like to see more of on our teams. Be on the lookout for Attribution Bias in yourself & on your team. It's a hindrance to creating a high-performing, inclusive culture.

What’s diversity looking like at your agency? What inclusion initiatives are you excited about? There are a lot of black folks at FCB Chicago, but we could be doing more

My agency is opening up applications for a DE&I Committee leader for the first time. This person will be responsible for overhauling how the agency approaches diversity, including employee training, internships, new business model and client communications. However, the role is a voluntary one-year term with no extra pay or incentive. There is no budget for this person to be trained themselves. How are your companies handling new diversity leadership? How should I voice my concern?

Has anyone else started their exit plan after less than 6 months on the job?

Im a few months into mine, and due to the lack of diversity on the team I’m already thinking about applying else where once I hit a year.

It’s painful and tiring to be the only minority on the team. Smh

I don't want people to think I'm just a "diversity hire" because I'm a minority female. Not sure what to do about this. Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Really looking for a way to turn around a toxic building culture with staff to staff bullying, cliques/social isolation, hard feelings on big topics (racism, non acceptance of gender identity). Last year the staff polarized with the lead bully whom I helped leave. And the lead gossip (who was my secretary) that gained their sympathy and turned them against me. She also left. Now I need to regain trust and eliminate unacceptable teacher behaviors. Open to any and all advice.

Hey! I am currently working as a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion consultant but looking to transition into DEI Program Management (or similar) for an organization. I’ve started getting some follow ups for jobs but unsure of a firm salary range. One organization said they were offering 92k which I thought was pretty low. Another organization was transparent and said they were looking at 135k. What’s the going rate? Sidenote, I have 10 years of HR experience, 3 DEI certifications.

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.

What do you wish design students would learn in school to ease the transition into needs of business? I have seen an increasing need for more education/inclusion/overlap into other areas of business that depend on design teams so they understand what goes into the process. As well as design teams into the other business teams. This would alleviate tensions and improve quality product delivery due to the major miscommunications that occur so frequently.

So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

I am from GDS consulting.
I joined from another firm to GDS when I just became a CA with a 42 percent increment from my peanuts in oct 2020 . That got revised by 24 percent in oct 2021 and now by 10 percent in mid year. A lot of my colleagues became managers. They might be getting 18 lakh plus. One of the senior 4 like me is getting 2.5 lacs more than me.
I am not saying that I have the best package, but I remember where I came from. Things have could been better, but they are not bad either:)

Any advice for healthier eating, or eating in general, when dealing with a particularly stressful time? I struggle with inflammatory stomach issues as it is, and the stress has been piling up and making it much worse lately - I’m either nauseous or have no appetite (or both). Decided to take the time to make one of my favourite (healthy and vegetarian) meals tonight and it was just not appealing at all 🥲 I don’t think I’ve had a proper meal in a week and I feel terrible.
