I’ve recently got laser hair removal on my face. And skin color does make a difference for laser hair removal! I’m brown and I made sure to go to a dermatologist who had experience doing treatments on brown/dark skin tones. The yag laser is recommended for tan - dark skin tones. Also, if the wrong laser is used or if administrated by an inexperienced doctor then scarring and hyper pigmentation can occur so make sure to go to a trusted place and double check which laser they’ll use. Hope that helps!
Skin color absolutely matters (I have been doing it for years and my aunt is a laser tech). It works best on light skin with dark hair because the laser works by targeting pigmentation. Make sure you check with the technician that the treatment is right for you and if it will be painless / effective.
Yes! Skin color doest not matter. You may need a few more treatments to be as effective as advertised though. For example if they say, plan for 9 to achieve the desired result. That, being said the result is worth it. I love it
Had it done. Had some regrowth but overall a significant improvement. Any hair that grew back is very fine. Highly recommend for underarm. I am brown also

Thank you for your responses. So I should look for a place that has YAG laser? How much $ is reasonable for 1 session?
ATK1 got it right. Hair texture is also a factor - the laser doesn’t get my dark, fine hairs. Definitely worth it; as others have said, plan on 8-9 sessions and then a maintenance session or two every few years.
