Currently in-house at a large CPG corp and in the beginning stages of vetting out an agency opportunity to head strategy for a division with ~clients. What do pay ranges and role titles look like on the agency side?

For context, i have 10 years of brand marketing & comms experience working on national brands and am looking for the equivalent of brand side director level or above.

We all had the same responsibilities, I consider I even had a heavier workload (talking in past tense since I very recently made an internal move).

At what point does “ego” stop mattering? Over the past 5 years I’ve worked my way to being an Account Manager, but ultimately my career goal is to work for the government. There’s an opportunity to be an admin assistant working for the government, and would be a nice way for me to get in and move up. But the title change from Account Manager to Assistant is a big deterrent. Logically I know that it doesn’t matter, but emotionally it’s hard to feel like I am taking a major career step back?

I have built social media and influencer programs for starts up for the last 8 years. I recently had a very unprofessional experience recently going through an interview process. I had 3 rounds of interviews already, did an amazing case, my last interview was scheduled with the CMO, the day before the interview I am told that the CMO wants someone who has big brand experience like Taco Bell or Nike. It blew my mind because this is a start-up too & that my qualifications don’t even matter.

I started at a new company a few weeks ago. The team has been so poorly managed and C suite hasn't been the best at managing them - I'm their first CD ever so I can see where they're coming from and what their concerns are.
